Another Paris Hotel near Pullman Eiffel Tower/also Moulin Rouge?

Hello,

Can someone suggest a reasonable hotel around the Pullman. I was told this is a good area to get to the attractions -- that you do not have to change alot of trains to get to the major places. Is this true? I don't care if the hotel is average -- interested in value and location.

Any hotel suggestions would be appreciated to visit some of the major things - Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacred Heart Basilica, Notre Dame.

Also I have read mixed reviews on Moulin Rouge and Crazy Horse. Is one better than the other? Are they difficult to get to?

Many thanks for your suggestions.

The Crazy Horse is great but quite expensive. Right across from the Georges V Hotel.

Haven't been to either, but from what I've read, Crazy Horse and Moulin Rouge are completely different, don't you know that? Crazy Horse is a more convenient location on the Ch Elysees, but is basically a modern glitzy Vegasy show, very sexually oriented. Moulin Rouge is not like that. Both are very easy to get to, espec Crazy Horse. But Moulin Rouge is right near a metro stop, so no big deal.

NO, I do not think the Pullman Eiffel Tower is a convenient location where it is easy to get places, and especially not a place you'd want to hang out around your hotel. The closest metro stop is Bir Hakeim which isn't that great an area at night. It is true you can get to the Arc de Triomphe easy from there, and there is an RER stop which gets you over to St Michel. So that isn't too bad, I just don't think that's a great neighborhood. If you aren't staying there, anyway, I sure would NOT seek out a budget hotel right near it (of which there probably aren't any).

No, the Pullman Eiffel Tower isn't that convenient (nowhere near the Tour Eiffel is, really), and no, métro connections aren't that great from there (bus connections are, though). You'd be better off closer to Notre Dame and the river.

I'd rather stay in the 5th or 6th arrondisement, many hotels in all price ranges and easy walking to many sights--bit of a long walk to the Eiffel Tower but certainly have done it.

The buses and metro are relatively cheap and will get you anywhere, fast on the metro, scenic on the buses.

What is your budget if you are loooking for hotel suggestions?

IMHO Moulin Rouge and Crazy Horse are both expensive tourist traps (unless you love Las Vegas type "shows").

Can't make hotel recos since we don't stay in budget - but the one you have picked is poorly located. Suggest you get a decent map of Paris and locate the sights you want to see - then identify areas to stay in - if you want to walk versus Metro.

The Pullman Tour Eiffel is absolutely not convenient to any sight to see in Paris other than the Eiffel Tower. I would absolutely never stay in that area if I were looking for a hotel in Paris.

No, Christina, the Crazy Horse is located at 12, ave. George V, Paris 8. It is not a Las Vegas-type show. It is rather a "naughty" Parisian treat. Why would you comment on either when you haven't been ?

Thank you everybody for your comments. Someone living in Paris now recommended the Pullman!! I think I would like a hotel close to the metro instead of the bus stop. How about any of these: Hotel Marignan? Hotel Cosmos? Hotel Bonaparte? Hotel Clement? I'd only like to spend about $150 a night if possible but want something close to metro.

I read some people mention these hotels in other posts. Can anyone please tell me if they are in a good location for the major sites (Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacred Heart Basilica, Notre Dame) and if the area is safe.

venus, everything in Paris is close to a métro (or two or three or more) and everything is safe. It's not as though there is a stark choice between métro and bus - they're both all over the place. Please do yourself a favor and get a map and learn where everything is. You're going to need to know once you get there, so get a head start on it!

I often recommend the Clément, it might be over your budget depending on what type room you need but the location is excellent, very short walk to metro stops (less than 1/2 block and two blocks) and bus stops. Worth checking, there are sone times special offers.

What's better, it's walking distance to Louvre, Notre Dame, Ste Chapelle, Luxembourg Gardens, Pantheon. St Sulpice. Bit farther but not if you're a walker, Eiffel Tower, Musée D'Orsay, Invalides, Rodin Museum. If too far, quick on the Metro.

If you like the nicer chain hotels, I would recommend checking out the Crowne Plaza at Place de la République, the Pullman Montparnasse or the Mercure at Gare du Nord.

A Parisian colleague of my hubby recommended Le Walt Hotel on the 7th arrondissment which is where we booked for April. Looks convenient on the map and a nice property as well.

Of the hotels you mention, I the Bonaparte and Clement are frequently recommended by travelers here. Both are well located and in safe neighborhoods.
