Amsterdam Hotel

Hi

I had pretty much set on Hotel Brower for our 3 night stay in Ams in Feb. However, now I am reading really good reviews on Maes B&B. So my question is does anyone have an opinon either way on these? Also with Maes what is the breakfast area like is it an overcrowded table around which everyone must crowd or is there a bit of space with a few little tables or the like?

Thanks for any thoughts or advice.

J

Are you talking about the Amsterdam in London?
If so, read , if not ignore.
We stayed there in april, and while I was not impressed I was not dismayed either. The best part of it is it is close to the Tub. We had two great rooms. They were called Twin Suites, each had a tiny bedroom for two, and then a sitting room with a kitchenette. The bathrooms had good hot water. Most of the staff were pleasant, although the day we got there, they were short of chambermaids, and the desk clerk was really crnaky!!!
and our room was not ready til 2 pm .
After all the cleaning people left, there were still dirty dishes in the hallways! and dirty linen on the floor .
Never had I seen that in a hotel before. But, the next day it was gone and did not happen again.
The breakfast is decent, but we are not big morning eaters
If you are looking for a room under 100GBP , it is OK choice.

Hi, Nan. I think Jules will be visiting the city of Amsterdam.

Jules, look at Hotel Fita at www.fita.nl. We've booked it for our trip in October. I've been pleased with the info on Fodors and Trip Advisor. It's near the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseums. Response to my inquiry and the booking process, by e-mail, have been fast and pleasant.

I believe your questions are answered by reading the posts on Tripadvisor.com. It sounds like you eat with the hosts and guests, rather than privately/independently.

A great place to stay and see the real Amsterdam. The hosts Vlad and Ken were so helpful from the outset with advice in emails prior to our visit, right through to to the personal touch on arrival. The advice on where to visit at what time etc. was invaluable and the local knowledge on fine restaurants second to none. Breakfasts were cosy and you were treated as part of the family. The selection of ham, cheese and pastries was excellent. Look out for the mozzies at night!

What a great choice. Read the reviews here and gave it a try. B&Bs give such a different aspect to a stay in a city. The hosts were wonderful and wonderful conversation and advice at the breakfast table. Highly recommended. Great location, very walkable city.

Ken and Vlad are fantastic hosts!!!!! Mae's B&B is wonderful!!! We were there for a portion of our honeymoon and had a great time. Their suggestions were perfect (places to eat, see, shop, do laundry, etc.). If you needed anything they were right on it. Breakfast was great - chatting with all the other guests and hearing about their adventures. We can't wait to visit Amsterdam again, and will for sure go back to Mae's. It is a funky and charming home away from home!!
