We're taking the train from Frankfurt to Amsterdam April 12. It cost 40 euro apiece. It's an ICE and takes about 5 hours. The train station is in (or next to) the Frankfurt airport. Go to www.bahn.de. Click on Internat. Guests.

I looked and looked at flying. It was too expensive. Most flights from Frankfurt go to London before Amsterdam.

Staying in Central Amsterdam is really expensive. Also, I think this time of year it's hard to find anything.

I used Priceline and got the Amsterdam Holiday Inn. It's a ways out but I got it for $85 (dollars, not euros) a night. Can you use Priceline in England? It's a cheap way to go.

I think they have special pricing on certain dates.

I haven't bought tickets yet to come back to Frankfurt, it always comes to 100 euro. I had assumed that it was just cheaper to go to Amsterdam then the other way.

Also, I've been told on this board that it's cheaper to buy tickets at the station.

We're going to buy our return tickets when we get to Amsterdam.

Hopefully, someone more experienced with this will respond to your post.

This is the first time I've purchased tickets. We haven't gotten there yet to find out if I did everything ok.
