Am I forgetting anything for Italy trip?

Doing the finishing touchs on a suprise trip to Italy(christmas)for My wife.
I have booked the airline tickets, the hotel in Rome, reserved a place in Bologna, and reserved the Hotel in Venice.
In Rome I have worked the Itinerary in Rome to include tours with ICON tours which have been booked.
I figure I will purchase train tickets there to Bologna and for the day trips out of Bologna as well as the train to Venice.

Which tours should i prebook now fro a trip in March for Venice and Florence?

Am I missing anything? This is my first time planning anything other than a trip to the mall which I generally screw up somehow.

Hi R,

You will want some reservations:

Secret Itineraries tour of Doge’s palace
Phone number is 011 39 041 520 9070. English-speaking operator.

You will not be charged for your tickets if you don't go on the tour.

Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 3 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them.

Do I understand correctly that you are doing Florence as a day trip from Bologna?

In that case, I would particularly advise you to book the Uffizi and the Accademia (David) in advance:

(39) 055 294883

Both are reserved at the same number; each reservation costs 3 Euros, but if, when you get there, there is no line, you can just go in without picking up your reservation and save the 3 Euro each.

(If you only want to see Michelangelo's David at the Accademia, a half-hour is enough; how long you spend at the Uffizi depends on your own interests, but I would count about 2 hours. Don't do one immediately after the other; have lunch in between to prevent museum indigestion.)

In Venice, if you want to do the "Secret Itineraries" tour of the Doge's Palace, that too should be booked in advance. By telephone, it is
(39) 041 5209070; you can also do it on line at

http://www.museiciviciveneziani.it/f...;sezione=musei

Except for ContextFlorence, which offer very expensive tours, I'm afraid I don't know anything about tour companies in Florence. But there definitely are tours of Florence or of the Uffizi.

If you are planning to attend a Papal Audience or do the Scavi Tour, you will need to get going on those. I reserved for Papal Audience by contacting my local Archdiocese---they do not care if you're Catholic or not. For Scavi, you will need to go to the Vatican website, and follow the instructions to e-mail them for reservations.

I would also recommend reservations for the Borghese Gallery, if you wish to view the art there during your stay in Rome.

Buon Viaggio,
BC
