7 Hr. layover at Dublin Airport

My daughter will be traveling through Dublin on her way to Paris in a few days. Unfortunately, she has a 7 hr. layover. We're assuming there will be large lockers at the airport and wonder about the possibility of traveling into Dublin for some sightseeing? Any suggestions on this? Thank you for your help.

There is a bus from the airport into the city which only takes about half an hour or so, Your daughter could take that, and go into the city. She could perhaps visit Trinity College and see the Book of Kells,(and admire the old Parliament Building which is now the Bank of Ireland, opposite) and take a walk through Stephen's Green. Then walk back to O'Connell Street, through Kildare street to pass the Dail(Irish Parliament House) and catch the airport bus back in O'Connell Street.

This could be a popular thread, as Aer Lingus provides a "low cost carrier" entry point into the rest of Europe, in conjunction with Ryan and SkyEurope (and their own flights).

At the current time we too have a similar layover set for November. AA into Dublin then Aer Lingus to Venice....using FF miles for tickets so to date that is the best combo we can find to get direct to Venice. We have been to Dublin before so we are thinking we might go up to Swords for the day for lunch and to poke around. Any ideas on Swords?

One must - which sadly isn't promoted enough - is the exhibition of Celtic Gold at the (free) National Museum

Yes. It's uninteresting.

efg, There is also the hopper bus. The tour is about 1 1/2 hours. Then your daughter can get on and off at various sites throughout Dublin.

Curt, As Padriag said not much happening in Swords. How about Malahide? You could see Malahide Castle, Fry Model Railway, visit the village and walk along the seafront.

She won't have enough time for Dublin and will risk missing her flight. It could take an hour with traffic etc and she has to be checked in ar at least there 2 hours prior to the next flight. Maybe a taxi to Malahide and back and arrange with the driver for a pick up in the willage. It's a nice seaside village or Malahide castle on the way. It will cost though.

Padraig OK thanks but now it does not matter as we will no longer layover in Dublin ... thanks to very helpful agent at the AAdvantge desk we are now routed from Ohare (we arrive at Ohare from our home airport 3 hours ahead of the departure) into Brussels, a short layover there, and then direct into Venice, arriving around 1130 hours.....SO much better than the long layover in Dublin and not arriving Venice until 1930 hours....now do not get me wrong, we love Dublin and Ireland and were ready to have a few pints and just hang out but this is much nicer option.
