Looking for advice on 2oth Anniversary trip for April
Tahiti, Bora Bora, Cook Islands, Canary Islands or Fiji or even Sydney. We just want no rain and would like not freezing temps. I am also open to all suggestions. I was also looking at Crete and but it seems that most resorts are closed the beginning of April. Our vacation conflicts with Easter so I am looking for a location that will not be crazy due to the holiday or that things will be open. We do love Italy just not sure how warm Southern Italy will be at that time.
We have about 10 -11 days total.

Southern Spain should have good weather - we had well into the 80s/beach weather in late April a couple of years. But I can;t comment on effect of aster - you would need to check it out.

Sicily would probably also be pleasant - not sure of beaches.

The Cook Islands are a lovely and less-traveled alternative to the more popular So. Pacific island destinations. I've been there twice. I'd to back again.

Consider Turkey. It has been one of our favorite trips of all. Things won't be closed for Easter although you might find in even non Christian majority countries that tourists from elsewhere mean things are busier than they might otherwise be.

Don't count on Sicily being warm in early April. I was there the 3rd & 4th weeks a few years ago and the 3rd week was warm but the last week was rainy and cool. Neither weeks were beach weather.

How about Morocco?

I though about Morocco. We love Turkey. We have been to Istanbul and Ephesus about three times. I want to go to Marmaris one summer.
I thought Sicily might be cooler we have been in Summer to many parts of Italy but never in Spring time. I have to also thank everyone on here for helping me with our wonderfu trip to Switzerland and to Italy this summer it was fabulous!!!!!!!
Morocco had cross my mind, Cook Islands, Canary Islands. Any particular area on the Cook Islands?

Aitutaki is less-developed and more beautiful than Rarotonga but Raro has more to see and do.

Thank you all. I have also been researching Crete. Is most of Crete closed until mid April? We love Santorini. Can anyone recommend another area in Greece that is open and warmer that time of year. There are way too many islands.

All Greek mainland is open with maybe a couple of exceptions. It is not very clear to me if you are after a beach holiday as some of your destinations indicate. If this is the case, I doupt southern Europe or even North America fit the bill. If you are keen on other activities and some sunbath is a bonus, this is a different matter.

We are open to all. Thats why I said in header "open to all suggestions .. just do not want rain and freezing temps"Many hotels in Crete (resorts) are in fact closed until late April/May. I have only found a few that are open at the end of March actually one so far. Santorini I have found more.

I believe your best bet for Crete is to check on city hotels say on Chania or Rethymnon or Heraclion rather than beach resorts and/or countryside hotels. Do note that many hotels, esepcially the smaller ones may simply have not open their booking systems for next April yet, this does not mean all of them are closed.
The advantage of Crete is that there are plenty of antiquities and other sightseen and island is large enough to make lots of road trips if this is your thing.
No one can guarandee you'll meet no rain at all on early April, but statistically say 2-3 days of rain on a 10 day trip is not the end of the world as far as you have some indoors things to see and do. Temperature on Crete is considered as warm on early April but definately not hot. Of course those terms are a personal thing. Sites such as wunderground have a useful "history" function so you can get an idea on temperatures and other features on a given period of time of the past.

Santorini is known for its views and architecture rather than its beaches and it starts welcoming cruise ship visitors sometime on March. There are a few visitors even on winter and even more so on Easter, but things are going really slow till late April/May. Normally most excursions do not run on early April and many restaurants, shops etc are still closed. Easter dates next year might mean more facilities available but personaly I suggest it only if someone wants a really really relaxing slow pace, maybe choosing a spa hotel and having lots of treatments or/and be happy staring the views for hours. This does not mean there are no things to see and do on the island, but I feel 10 days are far far too much. Just my opinion.
