11 day trip to Europe including Zurich
We are planning a trip to Europe for about 11 days in July. We need to end the trip in Zurich from a Friday through Monday night---returning to the States on Tuesday. What would make a good trip prior to Zurich----Italy, Austria? Where could we go for about a week prior to Switzerland?

In addition to finding out your starting point, what would you like to do on your 11 days? Hike? Go to museums? Dine in fine restaurants? Shop? Relax at cafes and watch the world go by? Do you want to spend your time in cities or small villages in the countryside? Have you been to Italy or Austria before? What's your budget?

We don't know where to start---northern Italy? We like to go to museums, dine in nice restaurants, shop , see the sights---mix of small villages and cities. We have been in Pisa, Florence, Rome, Tuscany, Naples, Pompeii---budget---not sure yet.
