?? about using gps if there is no "real " address
We just realized that some of our French hotels most part don't have real addresses..at least according to the letterhead on the confirmations. For example the hotel will only list the town and a number which looks suspiciously like a zip.
So our question is..how do we use our GPS without a street address?.Is that possible?
Can you just put in the town name and the numbers listed with it?..

To get from one area to another and find the proper route, you have to enter an address (at least that's how it worked in Boston). Well if we don't know the "address" what do we enter? Maybe the French gps will be different.
We 5 days to go...maybe I am worrying for nothing. We got the GPS as it saved us in Boston. At our age, ahem, we need all the help we can get.
Thanks

We leave on Sept.1 and I am getting really excited/nervous?...there is a thin line I think between excitement and worry????
Anyway, you've give me a great solution.
Thanks

Unless you're traveling to a very very large city in France - Paris, Marseilles, Toulouse, Lyon - we're talking "towns." Even for us non-drivers, can't imagine why you would need more then a good map. Remember, these "towns" aren't Boston - completely different animal.
.. and if you don't know the town, how are you going to know where the museum or information office is located, let alone these addresses.
Leave the GPS home and buy yourself a Michelin map! Enjoy you trip.

Answer: ViaMichelin's GPS software is set up to accept Point of Interest tags. Quoting from their site: "Display numerous points of interest (such as, car parks, petrol stations, airports) and the option of adding personal points of interest"
