Trans-Atlantic Info Needed

We're going on a trans-Atlantic 2 week cruise with Royal Caribbean. If anyone has done this, we'd like to know what to expect in the dining room, that is, the food; is the entertainment all song and dance reviews, and will we get an opportunity to dance? (We don't have much info from the cruise line; maybe it's too early?)

Go to Cruise Critic and check the Royal Caribbean board. Also look on the Roll call for your ship and see if there is a thread for you cruise yet. You will get all your questions answered by regulars on the line.

A question on the trans Atlantic cruise.

I've seen some great prices for various cruise lines in their trans Atlantic routes. However, when I priced one-way airline flights returning to the US, the price for the flight was nearly 3x the price of the 1 way cruise.

Any ideas?

I'll check Cruise Critic, thanks. What's a "roll call" for our ship? We got a great price and onboard credit, and we'll fly home free but on standby out of Rome. We have family working for an airline. It has worked well because we do a lot of early planning and careful watching.

Roll call is exactly that. People who have signed up for the cruise. Usually, one of the members organizes a 'meet & greet' aboard the ship. The ship offers gratis coffee & pastries, sends someone to chat w/your group.

It is a marvelous opportunity to meet fellow cruisers and glean info about your ports along w/hooking up to share vans or taxis ashore to tour at a much lower price than the ships' excursions.

Some roll calls are more active than others depending on cruisers' awareness of CruiseCritic. In any event, sign up; you can gain knowledge & pose queries by doing so.

And let us her about your trip when you return.

Thanks a lot, Rhea! We'll do that. We're very sociable.

Gbelle, check Air Berlin. They're easy to reach from other European cities. They only fly to a few places in the US, and their routes are seasonal, but their fares are great. I checked this morning for a trip later this year and the legacy airline fares were 4K+ (ridiculous), while AB was 500USD+ (from Germany to San Francisco)

Hi Gbelle,

A RT ticket to the port of departure and return might be much less than a 1-way.

Even if you live at the departure port.
