So. Caribbean cruise out of San Juan for a family
My hubby and I have been on 6 cruises including Grand Princess Med last summer.
We want to take our 10 year old daughter
on a Southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan
during Easter break. Looking for the best kids program (no Disney- my husband would jump ship!).
Hi Amy,

Try the Carnival Destiny. Has a great children's program. Even has an all nighter for the 9-12 year olds for $32. All night fun.

Not crowded with kids on the Southern Caribbean itinerary.

Travel agents have reduced or free air from some U.S. cities.

Paul

Just returned from the Destiny yesterday. The ports of call on the Dutch treat are excellent. There are lots of families on this ship and the kids program seems to be good. As a single adult, if there are not alot of children running amok on the ship, they have a good childrens program. On my sailing, there were about 700-800 children and except for being in the whirlpools, I hardly saw any running around the rest of the ship. I talked to a little boy from Georgia on my return flight and he said he had a great time on the ship.
I had a pretty good time as well! More on that later.

We took our 10 yr old daughter and 13 yr old son on the Carnival Sensation for spring break last April. Tampa, Caymen, Cozumel, New Orleans, Tampa and there were 815 kids aboard according to an announcement. Our kids loved it. They prefer not to use the kids programs, as they are old enough to accompany us during the day, and my son enjoys the run of the ship, usually making friends with buddies. They haved cruised three times with us and no problems.

Don't eliminate RCL from consideration. I just got back from the S. Carib. on Monarch of the Seas and it was fantastic. Not as many kids as Carnival but a great kids program called Adventure Ocean. I also talked to some well-travelled child cruisers and they liked RCL better than Carnival.
