Segway: Has anyone taken one of these port tours?
Our first stop is in San Diego and there are a number of segway tours - 1 and 2-hour. One of our party members is 80 years old (but very active) and I need to know if this will be any problem for her.
Also, if you've done it, do you have a company to recommend?
Thanks!

Advanced age is not the limiting factor. It depends on how active and (for lack of a better term) "athletically stable" the 80 YO person is - he/she needs some proficiency in balance and some manual dexterity to ride/maneuver a Segway. I know people in their 90's who have ridden Segways and others in their 60's who are incapable of using one.

I’ve never been on a Segway but have certainly seen tour groups on them. The tour company will give you a chance to try them out before you take off, so make sure you can cancel at no charge if you can’t manage, and you should be okay.
