FCO to Civitecchia and back
What is the best way to get from FCO to the cruise ship dock at Civitecchia and back to FCO after the cruise? I would like to avoid taking multiple buses and trains to do this. We will each have one 26" suitcase and a travel bag so we are not overloaded but we are old enough that hauling suitcases around too much is a chore!

First, you may need to define best. I am sure the ship will have a bus to Rome. If you want to avoid buses and trains, that leaves one option -- taxi or hire a car. Either way - something about $100 to $150. We have made the trip four times and we always use the train but it does require about a mile walk to the train station from the port entrance.

We used Bob's Limo service earlier this month.
Look up the web site and compare charges.
I booked them for 8:30am and they were there at 8:00am.
We were shocked at the ease of getting off the ship with no customs or immigration. It took no time at all!!
It took about 50 minutes driving relatively slowly with no traffic.
It is a LONG way out of the port and to the station, although there appeared to be a port shuttle but double check.
A car only takes two suitcases and as two of us had three cases I had to go one step up from the car.
