Ever get your luggage really late?

I have heard that some people get their luggage delivered to their rooms at 6, 7 or 8pm. That would make it too late to get dressed for dinner. How often does that happen? Has this ever happened to anyone? Should I carry on a one day supply of nice clothes?

Happened to us the last cruise in May. Wound up having to wear shorts and other real casual clothes to dinner. Most lines will let you get away with that. The other alternative was to eat in the buffet but we wanted to meet our tablemates.

And yet another reason to prefer late seating.

That happened to us on Voyager. We were among the first 50 on the ship, but got luggage after 6 pm dinner. We'd been hanging by the pool all day and looked grungy. Don't worry about it, but be sure you take a little makeup in your purse so at least you don't scare anyone.I also try and wear a nice outfit to board the ship and have a swimsuit in my carryon.

I agree with Linda about wearing a nice outfit when boarding. If your luggage arrives late you will still be decently dressed for the dining room.

On any large cruise ship there is no dress code for dinner on the first night only for the reason that some passengers will not have their luggage.

Paul

LisaAnne,

Hubby and I went on a cruise in January with Royal Carribean and MY bags were delivered to our room AFTER the ship set sail! I was in a panic not because of the evening meal, but I was worried that all of my luggage did not make it on board. The first night is usually casual, but I would recommend packing an extra outfit and makeup in your carry on luggage.

Usually, we are exhausted by the time we get to our stateroom that we crash the first night, and have dinner in the buffet area.

Have fun, there is nothing like a cruise!

Yes, I've had my luggage arrive late. On a Princess Mediterranian cruise, the chartered plane to Barcelona arrived 8 hours late! We missed almost our entire first day at port, and were given a $25 credit for the inconveniance. Well, once on board, our luggage arrived two days late! I still get upset when I think about it.

We always take at least one change of clothes, our toiletries and medications in our carry-on in case we are delayed or our luggage goes astray.

Hi LisaAnne

I had that experience earlier this year on Carnival Pride except we didn't get our luggage until the next day. American Airlines cancelled our connecting flight, causing us to get a later flight. By time we arrive in Orlando, we had no time to wait for our luggage at the baggage claim. We had to board the bus to get to the ship. We end up getting our luggage when we were in Key West that afternoon. Thanks to Carnival they had a little souvinir case with toiletries and their shops which came in handy.
