I was in the cheapest stateroom price level wise and it was a nice room. No window, but we really mostly only slept in there anyhow.
I hardly felt the ship move at all and we were not seasick at all. I'm not sure it matters that much what side of the ship you're on.

Side of ship should not matter. Went on two Disney cruises and they docked on both sides at their private island. Never know how they are going to position in a port until they arrive. I prefer close to the middle of the ship near elevators. Convenience mainly since all the new ships have stabilizers to smooth the ride.
