Celebrety Galaxy

Planning to travel on Celebrety Galaxy this summer (Greek Islands). Has anyone recently been on this vessel? Comments on service, food quality, vessel accomodations and overall appearence. Thanks

Hello...I travelled on this ship this past June/July from Rome to the Greek Islands and found everything to be superb! I was told that the ship was to go in dry-dock for refurbishing during the Fall of 2007. However, I really did not find anything about the ship to be out of order or in "need of repair". The food and service in the dinning room was wonderful. The cocktail lounges were welcoming with attendants eager to serve. The pool was crowded during days at sea, but that seems to be standard during any cruise. Special touches added to the care of passengers. Upon returning to the ship after port calls in high degree temps, attendants were present handing out drinks of cold water and frozen facecloths!!! Upon returning to the ship after at one port the lady in front of me was instructed to remove her hat and sunglasses so that security could match her face to her picture on file. She was a bit miffed, but I thanked the attendant for being so concientious. Another time while on the island of Santorini, the ATM machine ate my card. Needless to say, I was quite upset. When I returned to the ship, the concierge told me that I was entitled to a free call to my bank in the United States. What a relief to know that I could speak with someone who could put my mind at ease!!! These are several thoughts that I wanted to share with you...Please do not hesitate to book your cruise, enjoy the ship and the glorious ports of call.

Hi...The ages were mixed. It was the summertime and there were families with young children on board. The only time I found a cruise with a large number of older retired individuals was when I took a Panama Canal cruise about 3 years ago.

If you have other questions, do not hesitate to ask...

We just off the Galaxy...the public rooms will be rehabbed this spring.. Service great...five days at sea in warm, warm weather and no problem at pools or jacuzzis for that matter. Compared to Century food was a little bit underquality, but I stil lmanaged to gain much weight.lol..Had great tablemates///

I suggest your spend some time over at cruisecritic.com. There is lots of current info on Galaxy and, frankly, she is widely regarded as being sorely in need of a refurb so perhaps your timing is good.

IMO, X does a poor job of maintaining their ships overall and has fallen down in quality over the past 5 years. Previously, they were a top choice of mine but things have changed.

one of the complainerson Cruise Critic booked TWO more cruises on Celebrity during the cruise..We personally on Deck 9 had no problems, except finding our room steward and a call to Desk Relations brought a swift response. One complaint by a passenger (inside cabin-Deck 4) was that the tile was off the spas...big deal... complained about the buffets.. Frankly, we NEVER eat at buffets.. even on ships, but the breakfast and lunch buffets were outstanding...One funny story that bears repeating is a young American teenager complaning to the Maitre de that the ice cream station didn't have jimmies and would he tell the man to get jimmies for her ice cream.. I swear to y ou that was a true conversation....she was very upset..NO JIMMIES..lol.. Yet I had just had a dish of sorbet and there were at least six dry toppings including chopped chocolate tidbits.. Okay, the last breakfast in San Juan we couldn't find butter.. so what...GO WITH THE FLOW FOR HEAVENS SAKE... Yes, I did hear from others that some of the more expensive suites had problems... The ship was immaculate... they were painting the pool area as we left the ship.. Would I book Celebrity again (the smaller ships).. absolutely, when their itinerary changes to something of my liking and interests. We are not the type of people wo list all our cruises..but this made well over our 20th cruise anyhow. We've cruised Dolphin, Premier, NCL, RCL, Carnival and now our second Celebrity .., we've been cruising for well over 22 years...There are just people you can't please no matter what. So my unhappy friends go to Crystal and Seabourne...
