Carnival Victory in August to Canada Rough Seas out of NY?

We are thinking of taking the Carnival Victory to Halifax, Nova Scotia, St. John in August out of New York. Is rough seas a concern. We took Enchantment out of Florida in the Eastern carribean in February and loved it. Waters were fine. Any opinions on how ships compare in quality. Thanks.
Ken

We did that trip from Boston a few years ago in July, but not on a Carnival, but on the old SeaBreeze and the seas were fine..It's a great itinerary especially with Halifax (our favorite city) and St. John..Any info on the destinations please write
[email protected]

We took the Carnival Destiny out of NY to St. John and Halifax three years ago (in July). I thought because we were cruising in the middle of July that the weather would be pretty good. Boy, was I wrong. It was cold, rainy, damp, foggy and rough. They had to cancel the big show because it was too dangerous for the dancers. We didn't get to sit on deck until the last day of the cruise and that was with our jackets on. We had a balcony in our cabin and NEVER sat on it. Fortunately, when we got into the ports, the weather was better. At least it warmed up and it wasn't raining. We still had a good time (in spite of the weather) and I think it's just the chance you take whenever you travel. There are no guarantees. You go and make the best of it.

Have fun!

I was on Carninval Victory to Canada last May, and trust me, rough seas are not a concern on that ship. Due to the size and the stabilizers, we barely felt a thing. And I'm very prone to motion sickness, but didn't even have to take dramamine and was fine. It was very foggy on the way up and back, and heard that it's like that year round on that route. I didn't mind though, since there was so much to do on board while at sea.

Hmmm, never mind since I just noticed the date of the original posting. Oh well, here's an advance FYI for anyone else who ever wondered the same thing.
