It feels like I am in the Caribbean right now...actually on the Gulf Coast of FL and it is nice! First week of Dec my DW and I, sans pickneys, will be in Negril! Why? As Brenda states...we are addicted. Easy for us to get to from Seattle, very affordable and and island vibe that compares to nowhere in the Caribbean I have been to. We have also made some great friends down there and we cannot wait to see all of them!

Earlier this year we went to Belize (does that count?). We'd gone there a long time ago, had very fond memories of that trip and always wanted to go back.
Next week we're going to St Lucia. I thought we'd try a new island and fell in love with the view of the Pitons.
In June, we're going to Puerto Rico. We were originally going to go to St Martin & St Barts but started looking at something a little logistically easier. We've been to San Juan before but had never really given much thought to the rest of PR. Didn't realize it was such a diverse island until I started researching. We're splitting our stay between the rainforest and the beach.

Hi JAGIRL! Haven't seen you in a while!
We're going to Great Exuma, Bahamas and staying on Stocking Island. We chartered a private plane a few years ago and flew around the north end of the area. It was so beautiful we knew we had to go back. I'm an out island junkie!
Why? Airfare Watchdog dot com sent me an alert for cheap air to Miami. So cheap I couldn't resist and booked $69 each way. Then I booked our air to Georgetown, Exuma and the rest is history!
This summer didn't look promising for a beach getaway but thanks to the low airfare I'm getting my much-needed-feet-in-the-sand getaway!
30 days until Chat-N-Chill, Tropic of Cancer beach and the Sunday pig roast.

We're leaving in a little less than a month for a week in Grenada, followed by a week in Anguilla, capping it all off with a night in Old San Juan on the way home. After skipping our big trip to the Caribbean last year in favor of Hawai'i, we're really looking forward to our toes being in the sand.
We've chosen Grenada because we're finally using the free trip that I won a couple of years ago and I picked Anguilla because it seems like the perfect counterpoint to lush, mountainous Grenada. And because the idea of spending all day reading on the beach and then going out for a fabulous meal is about as close to perfection as I can imagine right now. It's been a *very* stressful year so far!
What about you, JAGIRL? You leaving Jamaica for any other Caribbean travel?
Brenda, I didn't realize your trip was coming up so soon. Can't wait to read all about it!

ejcrowe: It sounds WONDERFUL. Have a great time!
I went all by myself to Saba earlier this year. You can read my trip report on this board to see why. It was a wonderfully relaxing trip.
My husband and I (sans child) are going to Barbuda in August. Why? We want total relaxation and gorgeous beaches.
We went to San Antonio, TX, for Easter break so I am currently suffering from Caribbean withdrawal. We're trying to figure out if we can sneak in a weekend getaway before the Barbuda trip. The next few weeks are so busy for us, it doesn't look good.
Happy travels everyone!

ILoveTheBeach,
Provo is beautiful and I can see why you are hooked. We went three years ago and I have been trying to get back there as well, but my husband wants to try new places before we return. Hence, I was scoping out everyones travels to get inspired.

We are lucky to have 3 trips this year. Puerto Rico and Vieques in January was fantastic. Our second visit to Vieques and we love the laid back island and the beaches. Anguilla in June (with a couple of nights on SXM) for the beaches with the pure white fine sand...
Akumal, Mexico in November for snorkeling and a trip to Coba.
Love the beach!

Sounds like everyone has some great trips planned! I can’t wait to read all of your trip reports, and hopefully see some pictures! We already did our island trip for the year to Long Island, Bahamas in February/March. It looks like our next trip will be in the winter to Mexico for our friend’s wedding. They haven’t chosen a location yet though. This one will have to be “san pickneys” as well. It’ll be our first trip away from the kiddies, so we’ll see how it goes. Next trip on the horizon after that is looking like a villa rental in St. Maarten

Not technically in the Caribbean, but we are considering Belize for December. We're debating between it and Costa Rica to try something different. But, we may chicken out and go to Nevis or Anguilla/St. Martin, two trips I've been looking into for a long time!
Next year we will do a split between Caneel & Little Dix for our 5 year wedding anniversary (we decided upon that when we went to Caneel 2 years ago)!

Great picture CS, thanks for sharing! Enjoy FL! I can't wait for summer. We've been swamped with rain for about a week now.
Greenie, make sure to check out the Leverick Bay Friday night bbq-it's a good time!
