Outside of the normal island activies of swimming, snorkeling and diving you'll find St. George's interesting, a pretty town. Not far from St. George's in the mountains is Grand Etang Lake and the forest reserve. There are some forts to visit and on the north side of the island is Carib's Leap and Bathaway Beach...down on the SE side of Grenada is La Sagesse Nature Center tucked away in a pretty bay and there's a nice beach/bar restaurant there, also a hotel. The best place to have traditional Grenadian cuisine is Patrick's on Lagoon Road. For about $20 you get to try about 20 different dishes, they just keep bringing food out. Go with a good appetite and definitely call for reservations, the place is very small. Another good restaurant is the Aquarium near the airport.

Spice plantations, nutmeg factories and very old rum distilleries are interesting. The overall scenery is geat. But see grenadaexplorer.com for a lot of information.

Don't miss "market day" downtown on Saturday mornings - - -amazing! Bring your camera. We bought wonderful little spice baskets for gifts and an ample supply of saffron which was incredibly cheap there.

Check out the site: www.grenadatravelforum.com for extensive details on hotels, resorts, cottages, villas, and apartments after Hurricane Ivan's wrath. Grenada is rebuilding much faster than most originally thought could be done. The buoyant spirit of the Grenadian people continues to stay up.

Sandcrab,
Thanks for the post. I do pop into grenada explorer to check status. I hope that things on Grenada are improving, I have sent $s for relief efforts. I hope to return soon, truly a wonderful island and beautiful people. If you know of any rebuilding projects, myself and several others, would be interested in lending our time and materials....just let me know.

I did check with the Red Cross yesterday, and they said in order to give donations that are Grenada-specific, you must call, select the International Relief Fund from the menu, and tell the person assisting you that you would like your donation to go to Grenada.

Thank you!
