Ann, hey

We honeymooned in St. Lucia in September 1997 -- absolutely loved it! Stayed at the Windjammer Landing resort (beautiful villa-based resort built into the natural hillsides which comprise the resort location).

This is a great island for "active" people, as they there's so much more to do on this island (than say, an Anguilla ). Doesn't have the "classical" caribbean turquoise blue water / white sand on every beach (that would be Anguilla), but the beaches are fine, and the watersports are plenty.

On friday night, go into the town of "Gros Islet" -- there is a weekly town party (pretty wild -- watch your wallet -- a good time though). Absolutely rent a 4x4/Jeep type vehicle and explore the island on your own. Go south to the Soufries region, down to the Pitons, walk-through volcano, and the rainforest region.

Best restaurant (so far as we're concerned) -- the "Coal Pot". In St.Lucia, I'd encourage people to get off their resort for dinner/evening excursions.

R. Kratz

An absolute must is the helicopter tour of the island and dinner at Ladera resort near the Pitons.

The Brig Unicorn Sunset Cruise was definitely a highlight (heard good things about the day sail too), and dinner at the Coal Pot was wonderful. Our favorite restaurant on the island as well.

I've also heard great things about the helicopter tour. One cab driver told us it's really the only way to see the island. Our reservations were canceled due to flight delay. In fact, it's a great idea if you're flying into the southern airport whereby you can bypass the 1-1/2(?) hour car ride to your hotel and use it as a transfer / sightseeing combo.

We went to St. Lucia in January. We did the helicopter trip one day WOW what a sight -the rain forests were beautiful and you get real close to the Pitons. We also went for a night sail on the Unicorn it was fun, with music and refreshments. We could see the cruise ships in the distance, the sunset was awesome. Have a great trip.
