Top 3 things to do in St. Lucia?
We are leaving for Ladera Resort in less than 2 weeks. Since we will be there for 8 days we would like to take a couple of tours. What are the best things to do? What's a waste of time & money? Any tips for things that we should bring to Ladera would also be helpful!!! Thanks!!!! We love to snorkel...any names of tour companies that are fabulous???

Wow--have a great time! I had dinner one night at Ladera's Dasheene while staying at the Jalousie and it was the best meal I had all week.
Check out the snorkeling right off the Jalousie Beach, which as I understand you have complimentary shuttles to. Once on the beach, talk with one of the water taxi guys to negotiate a private snorkeling trip on your own. Also check out the snorkeling at Anse Chastenet.
I loved the botanical gardens but I thought the drive-in volcano was much more interesting in theory than practice. If I were going back to St. Lucia (and I would in a NY minute), I would want to check out the fish fry at Anse la Ray (I think that's right--the village near Ti Kaye on the west coast) and the daytrip via airplan and then sailboat to the Grenadines.
For a contrast you might enjoy the Wednesday night party at Bang Between the Pitons--it's somewhat cheesy, but I admit I enjoyed it. It's a 3 course prix fixe that was about $30 pp a few years ago, inclusive of free flowing rum punch. It's very relaxed and informal, but reservations are needed for these popular nights. Lord Glenconnor, aka Colin Tenant, is an interesting host.
Enjoy your stay at Ladera--it's simply gorgeous there and I'd like to stay there one day myself.

We took a trip on the boat Brigg Unicorn which I thought was worthwile. If you don't have kids, don't go on Friday as that was family day and all kinds of crumbsnatchers running around.
I thought the volcano/bottanical garden trip was a waste of time, too hot, too smelly.
I thought the best snorkeling was at Anse Chastenet.
You will not believe the view from Dasheene! ... Have fun.

Our best experience was the rain forest tour--absolutely wonderful. We also enjoyed the Bang Between the Pitons party, as well as the botantical gardens.
You'll have a lovely time--Ladera is gorgeous.

We stayed at Ladera for our honeymoon. It's really a very special place! As for activities, our favorite during our trip was climbing the Petit Piton. It's pretty strenuous, but our guide, J'ai, was great and the experience is out of this world!
