Tip for Private Catamaran Trip

We plan to take a private catamaran one-day tour. Cost will be $500. Should we tip the couple that does this, and what would be a proper tip? Thanks everyone

That seems quite high to me for only a one day (not overnight) trip unless it is in Christmas season on a very expensive island.
Most of the places I have been to only charge $250 or so for a private tour that lasts all day and goes to several mooring points/islands.
Back to your question, I guess I would tip after the trip 10 to 20% based on the effort, length, service and personal attention I received in addition to quality of food and drink.

The tour is from St. Thomas. I actually thought the price was ok based on something we did in Antigua a couple of years ago for a similar price.

Maybe we paid too much previously & this is still too high, but the arrangements have been made.

How many people will be on your private cat tour? What else is included--lunch, drinks, etc? A group of my family and friends just chartered a private 1/2 day cruise in Antigua that included lunch, open bar, snorkeling gear, and hiking tour for $52 per person, 15 person minimum. We had a large cat (could've accommodated 80 people) and a crew of four, we tipped just under 20% of cost. It was defnitely a highlight of our long wedding weekend!

If the sail is owner operated and he did not have anybody else assisting him, would that make a difference??
