St Lucia to Bequia - how can I get there?
We are trying to get to Bequia on christmas eve from St. Lucia - anyone know how we can get there? I only received one charter flight response which was pretty expensive. Thanks!

Using easycruise and sharing a cabin (sleeps 2) you could leave St. Lucia on Friday night and be in St. Vincent Monday morning. (Saturday/Sunday the ship is in Barbados). Once in St. Vincent, take the one hour ferry across to Bequia. The easycruise fare would be about $100US per night (total) for the cabin. So assume $300 for the trip or $150 per person...much cheaper than any airfare but more costly in terms of your time. www.easycruise.com.
Book early.

needthebeach,
we took Liat----4 of us (2 children) from StLucia (Castries) to St Vincent then jumped the ferry to Bequia----there are two that go. You can google both Liat and Bequia ferries. We had a eticket and all went real well. Also, the St Vincent airport is good-----good duty free shop..

floridadveturist - go to www.bequiatourism.com and click on 'getting around'. This will give you info on ferry services from St. Vincent all the way to Grenada.
However there is no ferry service between SVG and St. Lucia.

need the beach, your first email said St. Lucia to Bequia. But it is SVG to St. Lucia? If so then it is Liat or Caribean Star the two I know. If it is SVG Bequia, then this.

We took both ferries---Admiral and Bequia Express and they are good--I recall about 1 hour. Good luck.

Thanks for clearing that up! We are staying in Union Island 6 days and then need to get to St. Lucia. I think taking the fast boat...yes, to Saint Vincent and then a flight to St. Lucia. Does this sound like the best way? The private charters are way out of our league... Ferry is familiar too now. I've been on so many websites trying to pull this together. Hate for the travel details to put a damper on the adventure details.
Joan...we rented the Hermitage Terrace for our time in St. Lucia and I wanted to pick your brain a bit if possible. I know it's been a while I think since you were there. Still some time to contact me X#<<ariel4atcomcast.net>>+++

Sorry to complicate matters but there is no fast ferry from Union to St. Lucia - there is a twice weekly ferry service that takes several hours with stops in Canouan, Mayreau and (sometimes) Bequia.
(Between Bequia and St. Vincent, as you know, there is frequent ferry service that takes about an hour each way.)
Alternately, you could get one of the local boat boys from Union to run you up to St. Vincent in his open speed boat - wet, bumpy and exhilarating - this would take an hour plus depending on how fast he goes. And don't even think about asking for life jackets ! Check out the Union boat boys as described on this web site - www.usual-suspects-sailing.com
I still think you should look at the scheduled shared charters offered by SVG Air. The costs are significantly less than their private charters.

ahhh...thanks to you all for the help. still in a rut.
1) SVG Air is private charter only - so too expensive unfortunately.
2) Caribbean Star has it, but the outbound time is bad, we arrive into SLU @ 16:30; so getting the 17:00 connection would be lovely, but probably not realistic.
3) trying to get thru to Liat, but 888 # doesn't work, nor does their online booking...
4)Usual Suspects - not sure they go from SLU to Bequia
5) Easy Cruise - books a min of 2 nights, so that doesn't work
6) BWIA Express doesn't fly out of St Lucia
7) any other options?

Needthebeach, my reply re SVGAir and Union boat boys was for floridadvenurist. I agree completely that some of these options are not at all applicable to your route (St. Lucia - Bequia) e.g. SVG air which does not have scheduled flights to St. Lucia and the boat boys (St. Lucia to Bequia is far too great a distance for that option)
Here are some other choices that might work
1. Have a travel agent contact LIAT for you - the slight service fee is worth it to avoid the hassle of their useless website and telephone reservation service.
2. Take easycruise anyway - you have to book (i.e. PAY) for two nights but there's nothing to stop you from getting off a day early.
3. 3. Probably far too complicated -but what about taking American Eagle from SLU to Canouan (CIW) and then SVG shared charter to Bequia. The SVG shared charter rate from Canouan to Bequia is not posted on their website but there are three flights a day (9 a.m., 5 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. I think) and in my experience the rates are not unreasonable one-way. Or if you are really lucky, you might land in Canouan in time to catch one of the twice weekly ferries to Bequia/Kingstown.
Good luck !

thank you for being so helpful!
I contacted SVG and they have no charters
to share on the day we are leaving to St. Lucia.I've seen some information on Grenadines.net about the ferry from Union Island to St. Vincent taking 2.5 hours. We'd then have to fly to St. Lucia for
$150 via Caribbean Star
If we can't share a flight, do you think the
hopping by boat is the best idea and which
route?

Just a comment that this thread got a bit confused (or maybe it was just me)??
OP (needthebeach) was asking for help from Bequia to St. Lucia. Floridadventurist then asked for help getting from SVG to St. Lucia.
You'd think the answers would be the same but they aren't, especially as each poster continued to clarify his/her needs and issues.
And I can tell from their responses that need the beach and Florida weren't always sure which response were for them and which belonged to the other guy.
At any rate, I hope you got it sorted out. If not, repost, but I would suggest separate threads !
