Planning our honeymoon in last week February 2014 !!
Hello Forum Members !!!!!
Have read a lot about this community n i think its time for me n my fiance to put up our honeymoon query !! We from New Delhi, India, and are planning to visit the Caribbean islands around 24th feb for at least a week n hoping to visit a nearby country to make an Island-City combination !!
I would want you experienced comments on :
1). Is this the best time to Visit the Caribbean in terms of weather, off/peak season !!
2). Which island is the most suitable for this time keeping in mind that we would not want too hot or too cold, so a stable weather to enjoy the at the beach n scneric views !!
3). If any ideas about choosing the most convenient way to reach the island from India !
4). n what budget shall we be hoping to end up for a week in any of the islands at a nice resort or villa !!!
ANy other inputs will be greatly appreciated please !!!
Thanks a lot in advance !!

1. Weather can be hit or miss, but mostly sunny and warm (not hot). Ocean tends to swell and be wavy, not calm like in postcards (due to storms in States it affects the weather, especially if many snow storms in States)
It is peak season, busiest time of year. Mid December through May is peak. This is the most expensive time of year. Prices can cut by half starting mid May.
2. Weather is unpredictable. The farther South the warmer. All if it can be considered nice. Each island has it's own personality, so you have to see what appeals to your tastes of what you want for a honeymoon
3. From India, either thru London or New York to most islands
4. You have to tell us your budget to help. We have no concept what you can afford. Overall Caribbean is expensive, and you're going peak season. With your budget we can help narrow down.
Forgive me, but you're close to Maldives. Maldives are honeymooners dreams! In my opinion. And youre so much closer!

thanks a lot for such a detailed explanation blamona !!!
Weather wise it can be said that its a good time...
I have to agree on you that being the peal season it must be very expensive down there !! I have a budget of around $ 2000 ish ( tickets separate) to be spent in these 4 days we are intending to stay !!!
Its great that u picked up the idea of Maldives for a choice of destination but I had a notion that carrribean islands are way more beautiful than maldives ! But we would want to combine Maldives with a nearby country to have a mixture of island n city life both !!

4 days not worth it, you loose tons of travel time
budget not very much, $2000 won't get you far in Caribbean.
February can have great weather, or it can be stormy, again, if snowy season in States, winds will trikle down.
St. Lucia is way too complicated for 4 days, and hard to combine with a "city"
You can try San Juan combined with Culebra and Viesques
You can combine most of Mexico with Cancun
You can try Dominican Republic but Santo Domingo is pretty far from beach resort areas
My opinion, Maldives are the most gorgeous in the world. But your budget won't work there, expensive destination!
You can also combine Miami with most islands. Keep in mind, Miami can get chilly (or be warm, it roller coasters quite a bit then)
Even from Miami travel to Southern islands, for ex. St. Lucia, takes at least 4 hours, so you loose days coming and going

Just throwing something out there. With your budget, consider a cruise through the Caribbean, departing from Miami, Tampa or San Juan. Look at the web site, vacationstogo. Look at the 90 day sticker, but also fill in the form with your dates and you will get many more choices. If that has any appeal, go to the Caribbean forum and the cruise forum for advice on itineraries and ships. A cruise could be great or not, so you have to choose carefully, but I think you could do a decent week on your budget.
You could also look at a cruise in Hawaii.
Cost wise, cruises can be good deals if you educate yourself as to total cost and what you are getting and should expect. It is a great way to visit several islands in the Caribbean and enjoy beaches and warm weather.

Oh, remembered you mentioned 4 days. I would not do a 4 day cruise in Caribbean. Those seem to be more for partying and gambling. Seven day cruises have much better itineraries, and are usually nicer ships as well.
Actually, given the cost and flight times, I would not do less than a week in the Caribbean, even to one island.
