My wife and I went there in August last year. It's a wonderful place isn't it.

Which cottage did you stay in?
Have they got their well dug yet?
Is Jeff still doing snorkeling cruises to Tobago Cays?
How are the dogs?

Mariarosa,
We had a WONDERFUL time! It is as close to having your own private island as you can get. We stayed in #8 cottage and loved it! Plenty of shade & sun on out beach, and I loved walking out to the ocean and swimming. The snorkeling was ok, but several people that we talked to had gone with Jeff on his Cat and had seen tons of fish and coral. The food was great and the service can't be matched! I can still hear the waves, and feel the breezes.

Stan,
We stayed in #8 and loved it! I think they are still working on the well. Yes, Jeff is still doing his cruises, and alot of people were taking them. The dogs are doing fine, and my husband, who is a Veterinarian, was amazed that they didn't weight more! Those eyes! Can't wait to go back!

Hi, neighbor!! LOL ... musta be right down from us ... we came back on the 6th. We had a few unexpected "bumps" tho and the most disappointing was the dinners - not wonderful and the food was not served hot (excluding the ice cream which was usually melted! After two tries, I gave up even wishing for hot lobster - or even warm!) but Hammock D and lunch delivered to the beach was absolutely sublime! But then we had just been to Anguilla and the restaurants there - so maybe I was expecting too much! Disappointingly, the boat was completely booked so we didn't get a chance to go ... What a beautiful island tho! Did you happen to be at the managers' reception on Monday? The house to absolutely DIE for? Just uploaded my pix this afternoon and was feeling all warm and toasty just looking at them!!!

We stayed in cottage #19 and loved it too! We had similar concerns about hthe dogs. With the way they eat is is amazing they are big as tanks! We happened to be on the west end beach one late afternoon when a lady (I can't remember her name) came by with the dogs. She was throwing a ball along the shore to them playing catch. Hercules would swim out 70 or 80 feet into the water chasing after the ball. It was great entertainment.

Thanks for the update on the place.
BTW, how long did it take for you to get there? We live in the Cincinnati area and had to go from here to Atalanta, Montego Bay, St. Lucia to Barbados in one day then to Union Island the next day. It is a long trip but well worth it, don't you think?

How are the beaches on PSV. On scubamoms site they looked very rocky. Snorkeling? Karen-I know you are a beachbum LOL, which room would you recommend. I have heard the food is just ok-now that hammock on the beach, lunch, sign me up! Is it worth the long trip?

Karen,

We were so lazy that we ate just about all our meals at our cottage. So, our food was never really hot. But Elvis did get my husbands ice cream to him frozen! <g> We got there Jan 23 and left Feb 4. We did go to a cocktail party at the owners, and oooooh that house! The pool looked so inviting. loved it!

Stan,

We live in Lexington, so we probably flew the same way! We Delta from Lex. to Cinci. Then to Atlanta and on to Miami. We then took BWIA to Barbados and spent the night. We left Lex. at 7:00am and got to Barbados about 5:50pm. We spent the night at the Accra hotel and flew out the next morning to Young island and got to PSV in time for lunch. It really worked out well doing it that way. We went home the same way. I'm ready to go back!

Penny,

The beach that was right out from our door was perfect for me!! I could swim and snorkel without going anywhere! Then I could go in, shower off the salt, and sit back on my beach with a cold beer! It is rocky in some places, and you can't walk all the way around. But it is sooo private! It is a place to go if you don't want to do a thing or don't want to get "dolled" up for every meal. There is nothing to do except read! Just kidding, but you get my drift. I did not find the snorkeling around the island too exciting, but people that took the boat out saw alot more. I Dive, so I just enjoyed being in the water.

Just picked up my pictures ... and it is soooo cold here!! Awwwwwwww! When I upload the digital ones, will send 'em on if anyone wants them ... probably can pick Lee's cottage out on one of 'em! LOL The beaches can't compare to Anguilla or even to St. John. Very narrow and lots of coral but they "lend" you water shoes ... not that I used them - LOL. The Atlantic side tended to be a bit windy and so I didn't go in on that side but where the Hammocks are, each with their own little hut, chairs, table and, of course, my required mat (you get them at the boat house) was really very nice. You had to look for a spot to get into the water because of the coral but I managed very very nicely!! I wouldn't consider it my favorite for a "beach" destination but certainly for privacy and seclusion! It was hard for David with his cane and his not being able to walk long distances to rely on the "transportation" to get to the West End beaches. Penny, Working on the report and will send you the draft

At least from the NY area it was a bit easier - I think. Flew out of JFK into Barbados and overnited it. Then flight to Union Island. Same for coming home. Glad we didn't do AA into St. Vincent. My understanding is that they still aren't flying in there.

Lee:
It's pretty ironic that we are this close and went to the same place. We also stayed overnight at Accra. We actually live in Burlington just west of CVG.
While at PSV we became good frieds with a couple (on their 2nd visit there) from western KY. I noticed that she was sunbathing topless and wondered if it would be okay if I sunbathed nude. We were on the west end beach and there was no one else around. Well as it turns out they were also nudists but didn't know if it was okay at PSV or not.
We went out to Tobago Cays with Jeff together and then spent much of the rest of our stay with them.
Since then we've remained in touch and are trying to coordinate a trip together later this year.
We will be at PSV in a couple of months. We have requested cottages 1-5, based on all of our previous Caribbean experiences we love a cliff/overview setting......we love to hike, so no problem walking to the beaches. Any recommendations on the best views of 1-5?

We went last year from Boston in Jan and made it there in one day. We made it to JFK in time for the morning flight to Barbados. This gets in just in time to make the 4pm Mustique Air flight (or shared charter) to Union. We arrived at PSV just at sundown, what a glorius beginning to our week in paradise.
If you go after April 1, you have an "extra hour" to work with so getting there in one day is easier.
For those of you who have overnighted in Barbados, how did that work. Did PSV arrange the hotel? What time did you get to PSV the next day?
Did you use the lounge in the Barbados airport? We did (a fringe to PSV guests) and found it a nice way to wait for our flight.

John:
The PSV folks suggested places to stay. We made the reservations at Accra. We were booked on a charter on TIA for 1000 the next morning. The PSV folks said that specific information about our flight to Union island would be waiting for us when we got to Accra but it wasn't. Fortunately they had also given us the name and number of the person on Barbados who was responsible for making the arrangements so I called him and got everything settled.
Nobody said anything to me about access to the lounge.
We ended up getting to PSV around lunch time.
Over all though, it is worth the trip there.
A flight attendent on our last leg home (Atlanta to Cincinnati) asked about our flights that day. When we told her that we had taken a boat to Union, a charter to Barbados and then flew to St. Lucia, Montego Bay and Atlanta, she said that that was more flights than flight attendents are allowed to make in one day!
We had tried a couple of places for overnite reservations but they weren't anxious to accomodate since it was only one nite and they suggested calling back closer to departure time! So, we did. Finding a couple that PSV recommend, I stumbled on Accra. It was pretty close to the airport, neat and clean and had a beach - no beachchairs on the beach tho!! - ? or else we just got there too late. Our flight was with TIA at 10am and we were given a number to call when we arrived at the hotel. We did and he called us back in the evening and there was no problem! We did not know about the lounge at the airport going down (would have been nice to grab a cup of coffee or whatever) but did on the way back. According to them, PSV faxes them if they are expecting guests to take advantage of the lounge but they sure don't make it "known" to those of us who don't know!! Looking for my map to check rooms out ... I remember #1 and #2 and both had great views ... #3 I remember someone said tends to be hot and just want to make sure that 4 and 5 were where I remember them!! The three adjacent to the restaurant (well, not really close) had wonderful views too - they were in the #20's. I have to finish uploading the pix 'cause I have views from each of the locales. Hey, Stan, you must be a glutton for punishment ... but PSV is not easy to get to from anywhere ... but maybe that's exactly why the Grenadines remain as pristine as they are!!! So, guess that's not a bad thing! BTW, you are from Cincy? I went to MU and taught in Cincy!!

Karen:
Actually, I was born and live in Northern Kentucky. I work in Cincinnati and there are a number of people there that went to Miami.

Where did you teach?

BTW
I read Conde Naste magazine and the last page has a photo from somewhere. The photo a one issue was the view fom cottage 18, I think. The part that got my attention was the phone number to call, area coder 513, Cincinnati! I thought, "What does Cincinnati have to do with a resort way down in the Caribbean?".

Are you from around here and where are you now?
Original owners of PSV were from Cincinnati. You work at P&G? Seems every MU grad does "time" there! Lived in Springfield; taught at Greenhills-Forset Park. But way back when there was Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, the elder Ken Griffey, Dave Conception and the rest of the Big Red Machine!! Those were the days!! Then just two nites ago was watching the best of the best ... and there was my favorite ... The Maisonette!! About an hour out of NYC now!
