The Marriot in Grand Cayman is supposed to be nice, except for the fact they have no beach left.

That was my understanding too, only the reviews on the room are not good at all.
What do you mean by suppose to be nice. Have you not stayed there?

If you are looking for a nice beach, I'd recommend you choosing another hotel. If you want to stay on 7 mile beach, then choose another section of 7MB to stay.

The Weston is on a beautiful stretch of 7MB.

Go to caymanvacations.com. This is a good website and they give you a pretty good idea of the beaches and property. I personally would opt for a property that has an excellent beach rating.

What is said and what is done can be 2 different things. I personally wouldn't count on restoration being complete until it actually is.

I agree with meta, the beach ersion was suppose to be done last year and it's not even close if started. Just don't be surprised if nothing is done when you arrive. They WORK very slowly in Grand Cayman, even at the restaurants.

I wanted to go there to "save money" I scratched the Marriot off my list after seeing these pics and many others like it. I am going to the Westin in April. Can't wait! (copy, paste)

Beach is coming back. To see for yourselves, check out the web cams at reefgrill.com Last fall the sea came up to the wall. Now they have a decent amount of beach. And hopefully will gain more.

I just wanted to update you guys on the beach conditions of the Marriott GC Beach Resort if anyone is considering. I just got back yesterday. If you take a look at the link I posted above and see the Marriott's beach, that is being generous. They have 2 rows of chairs around this time. Oddly enough the Hyatt and Marriott do not seem to remove their chairs at night time. The Westin started stacking them at 6pm promptly. I guess they had to leave them there because they don't want people fighting over the positioning of the chairs-which can happen with so many people fighting over so little beach area. I really enjoyed the beach at the Westin. We got to sprawl out on their beach front. The beach erosion is quite unfortunate because it the other two hotels seem to be very nice.

I will post our trip report to GC another time. The Westin has its beach front as its BEST attribute Its what we weighed as most important in selecting our trip. In looking back, we still wouldn't have stayed at the Hyatt or Marriott just because of lack of beach space. Next time we will probably stay at VOG.

i just returned from 10 days at the westin. it was absolutely perfect! i travel for my job and am very particular about my vacation spots. i did a lot of research and it paid off. i walked down to the marriott and it's not pretty. the beach is very small and the swimming didn't look great at all....extremely rocky. i think you'll be disappointed. the beach at the westin is beautiful. not rocky - great swimming and snorkeling (off the beach). if you go, splurge for an ocean front (room 292 or similar). you will not regret it!! sleep with the door open listening to the ocean...sunsets every night - just spectacular. and tip...bring your own wine/alcohol from the u.s...it's cheaper than on the island. good luck!
