Just booked West Bay Resort in November! Is a car really necessary?

We are really excited and keeping our fingers crossed for good weather. Will we feel stuck at the resort if we don't get a car? Hoping to walk most places. Thanks! Any other advice/tips would be most welcome, too!

Congrats. Yes, get the car. We stayed on Grace Bay and was able to walk to a few things, but we really regretted not getting a car.

kellybeaches,

Thank you so much! Can't wait to read this and see your pictures! I probably sound stupid, but I really hate driving on the left unless there's not much traffic. I guess you didn't find it problematic?

Sure, no problem. Hope it helps! Traffic isn't bad. Driving on the left takes some getting used to. Also, if and when you rent a car ask them if the steering wheel is on the right or left. My husband is fine driving on the left, but the wheel in our van on the right threw him off a bit. Fortunately, unless you're driving during rush hour on Leeward highway (the main road) traffic isn't heavy. Just be careful on the turnabouts. There are no lights -only turnabouts. Remember to "give way" to the people going through the turnabouts!

You will need to have a car staying at WBC. I stayed there in February and have already booked for 2012. Wonderful resort and staff - especially the beach staff! Have a great time!

Thanks, janiekins! Are there any restaurants in walking distance that you'd recommend? We are a bit nervous about driving on the left.
