Turks/ Caicos/ Not Beaches,but where?

Thank you for guiding us. We do not want to stay at Beaches....Turks and Caicos...We are 2 seniors who will not be taking advantage of all that Beaches has to offer, but we want to be close to that location for a family activity planned there for one evening. Are we foolish not to book Beaches? Is there another attractive hotel near by? (We do not want the all inclusive amenities.)

Thanks so much!

The problem with Beaches area is you'll probably need a car rental to get around.

3 very nice resorts (and cheaper!)

West Bay Club

You can walk over during the day, at night not so much.

If you don't mind a car, there are tons of nice places to recommend in the hub where you can walk to numerous restaurants too (but need a car for Beaches)

It's not because of distance because everything's close, but because of dark spots.

If wanting to "visit" friends at Beaches, if trying to get a day pass (or night one) WHEN they decide to give you one (trying to discourage it) it's costly, think $500 pp person 10-6, then another $500 pp 6-1AM

So actually cheaper to spend the 1 night!

Next door to Beaches is the Alexandra Resort. We enjoyed staying there a couple of years. We stayed at the Ocean Club (East) Resort a few weeks ago, and we enjoyed that location, also.

As said above, you will most likely need a car. It is pretty easy to get familiar with driving on the left.

The beach/water on Grace Bay is absolutely beautuful! It is now one of our favorite places in the world!

Any of the three resorts Blamona mentioned would be great.

West Bay Club is really gorgeous. It also has one of the widest beachfronts of any of the hotels or condos on Grace Bay.

Windsong is very nice, too, but the beach can disappear during high tide. However, it IS next to one of my favorite restaurants, SOMEWHERE CAFE, and also next to CORAL GARDENS, one of Provo's prime walk-in snorkeling spots.

IF you will have a car ( BTW, it's pretty easy to drive even though it's on the wrong side of the road b/c traffic is light) consider The Venetian, at the other end of the beach.

The Venetian is our new haunt. It think you mentioned wanting to golf, and it is directly across from Provo's golf course. Also it has some of the nicest rooms on the island, with a very quiet and wide beachfront directly in front of the hotel.

However, as I mentioned in an earlier post, no restaurant, so you either need a car, or have to walk a few blocks to The Ocean Club for a light meal, drinks, etc.

Lastly, if none of the above appeal, take a peak at SEVEN STARS RESORT and see if they are offering any specials. As a treat, we went there for our 35th wedding anniversary in the spring. It has beautiful rooms, and is very walkable to many restaurants and shops.

Good luck!

Just wanted to add that we used to stay at West Bay Club all the time until they nearly doubled their rates! If you can find something reasonable there, stay away from studios which typically face the pool and can be very easy. The rest of the rooms are lovely!

That should have been, the studios are very NOISY. And not beachfront.
