Ok, here goes: My fiance and I are trying to find someplace we can afford in the Caribbean for our honeymoon. Our wedding is 9/25. We are in our early 30's and don't want to spend our week away with a bunch of college kids and all-out party-ers. Something laid back and relaxing. From reading the other posts, the USVI, Aruba or Angullia might suit our needs. Any of those have good all-inclusives that are something besides Sandals, Beaches or the like? Would like to be away about a week, but stay under a budget of 4-5K including air from the midwest. And I've heard our time frame is during hurricane season, but I went on a cruise 9/03 with no hassle. Would appreciate any suggestions since we've never been to the islands! -Steph

I suggest Aruba-it is a great island, tons to do, and BELOW the Hurricane belt--ie. below the equator so you do NOT get hit with hurricanes...

Try the Hyatt or Marriott Resorts on Aruba-- I think you will be happy there for a honeymoon...

Andy, Aruba is not south of the equator, and it does get hit by hurricanes.

There are no all-inclusives in Anguilla. Also, most of the island resorts & restaurants are closed in September & a good portion of October.

Try Barbados. It's south enough so you won't have too bad weather and there are all sorts of nice resorts at a myriad of prices (AI and non). Have fun!

I recommend Couples Swept Away in Negril for honeymoons. The beach is gorgeous and huge and the resort is very tropical and romantic. It looks just like the pictures on the website. I have been there twice and loved it.

I keep hearing Aruba is really commercialized. Where is Negril? I hadn't looked at Barbados--have to check that out! Keep it coming, we need all the help we can get!!

Yes, Aruba is commercialized, but it is also safe and friendly and has wonderful beaches, lot of nice places to eat, etc. As opposed to what a previous poster said, there is very little chance of a hurricane because it is outside of the hurricane belt, very close to the equator. I think the climate in Aruba is the best in the Carbbean, and I have been to many of the islands. I love that wonderful breeze!
It would be a pity to do all-inclusive in Aruba because there are so many nice places to eat.
As for Negril, I think it is in Jamaica. I would never want to go there myself (very unsafe!), but many people seem to love it.

I said nothing about the frequency with which hurricanes hit Aruba.
All I said was that they do hit.
I think it's important to point out because I often read comments like andy's (even in travel brochures) stating that Aruba is immune to hurricanes.
That's just plain wrong.
Look at the hurricane data posted many times at this board in the past.
True, Aruba is one of the 3 least affected islands in the Caribbean, but people should still know the whole story.
