High End All Inclusive???

High End All Inclusive???
I am starting to wonder if such a place really exists, but we could use some help. We have been to places in Riviera Maya and Dominican Republic. We love the larger, low rise resorts with multiple pools, paths, gardens, etc. It also gives the kids, (12, 14, 16) some room to explore. Our main complaint has been the mediocre (at best) food and drink. We have no problem paying top dollar if we get a higher end experience. We are hoping that the carribean may be the answer.

Check out "Blue Waters" in Antigua, fantastic AI, Really great food!!
Nice suites, they stock the fridge with what ever you want, great staff, not large place thou, may not be enough for kids but, check it out!

Blue Waters on Antigua is very nice, but I don't consider it especially high end AI. For that, check out places like Jumby Bay, a private island resort just offshore of Antigua, or Spice Island Beach Resort on Grenada. Your two younger kids are too young for the Royal Hideaway in Mexico, which always gets rave reviews for high-end AIs.

We've been to many AI hotels in Mexico and the Caribbean, and have learned that AI and good quailty food don't always go hand-in-hand. We've paid top dollar for some hotels that the food was worse than a 2* hotel we've been to. So you never know what you'll get.
Some of the higher end adult only properties appear to have better tasting food. Like Excellance, Secrets, Royals, and Iberostars.
I've found that hotels that offer an AI plan over a total AI resort have the better food since the non-AI guests are paying as they go and food is sold to the public for profit.

Paradisus Playa Conchal in Costa Rica had the best food of the many AIs we have been to. So you might check out the Paradisus in the Riviera Maya. Another option is to go to a nice AI like Iberostar Paraiso Lindo which is a gorgeous resort but typical AI food, and then go into Playa del Carmen 2 - 3 times and eat dinner in a nice restaurant there. Places like Spice Island or Jumby Bay would be outrageously expensive for a family of five.
