Help with last minute trip

Trying to decide between several islands for a very last minute trip. We've been to several caribbean islands over the years but are looking to find a luxurious yet unpretentious resort at one of the following islands: St. Barth's, Anguilla, BVI (Virgin Gorda?), Antigua -- prices are outrageous at many of these resorts -- we don't mind paying $1000 per night but 1500, 2000, 4000 for a room seem outrageous (as does $1000 but that appears to be standard for most luxury hotels). Haven't been to any of those islands and are concerned about Anguilla as we usually prefer lush tropical islands (Grenadines, St John, etc). Also, read about some interesting resorts in Jamaica (which we've been to only on a cruise) but are very concerned about crime. Geejam/Goldeneye, Round Hill are some we had investigated -- any recommendations on islands/resorts???

Try Turks and Caicos where you get more for your money:

The Somerset
Grace Bay Club
Regent Palms
Ganseevort
Seven Stars

On a lessor scale, yet rooms still quite luxurious:
West Bay Club
Veranda (all inclusive! yet luxurious and quiet)

Oh, I know you like lush, which T&C and Anguilla are not, but once you see those beaches, you won't care, the beaches definitely make up for the lack of lush ones and will become your future beach standard.
