I have also been to Cozumel a couple of times and Curacao. I spent a week on Cayman Brac at the Diva resort there. The diving was excellant, especially the trips over to Little Cayman and Bloody Bay Wall. I also loved Roatan Island in Honduras. Great diving there! Stayed at Anthony's Key Resort. What a great place! But that was in 1987.Of all the places I have been diving in he Carribean (Bahamas, Curacao, Caymans, Cozumel, St. Maarten, Roatan), Cozumel is still one of my favorites but Little Cayman and Roatan were probably the best.

My husband and I both vote for Bonaire...we've done
the Cayman (just this year), Curacao, Bimini, Aruba,
Cuba, Jamaica thing....Bonaire is super friendly,
excellent food and low prices. The diving at the
Sand Dollar was exceptional! Just steps from the
restaurant are the tanks...you take as you please.
Shore diving is just steps from that...the whole set
up is a divers paradise. Emphasis on divers...if your into shopping you'll be disappointed. Our next trip is back to Bonaire and this time, for 3 weeks.

Although the best reef diving we've done so far was in Key Largo, which doesn't count for Caribbean, to our surprise Tortola was our next favorite.
It's so close to so many islands (there's over 100 nearby), you get lots of different dives. Many wrecks (and even if you aren't much interested in wrecks, as I wasn't -- I loved the MHS Rhone dive), great fish, including large when diving the outer islands, and diverse dive sites. One dive, Alice in Wonderland, is appropriately named for its huge mushroom shaped coral structures. Another dive was Rainbow canyons, just 30 feet from the surface for magnificent brightly colored walls. I'm sure you'll enjoy wherever you pick -- each site has its own unique "best" charms.

Like many others, I would recommend Bonaire. My husband and I spent two weeks there on our honeymoon. Outstanding diving, recommend staying at a resort where the diving is included in the rate. As mentioned before, there is not alot to do on the island besides diving and water sports. Denise

Look into Andros--Small Hope Lodge to be specific.
Very caring and professional dive operation--many
varied dives too. There is not much to do on the
island, however. Great bone fishing if you are into
that. There is the Tongue of the Ocean to research as well. Let me know if you want further information.

in response to diving in the caribbean -
I have had the opportunity to dive Cozumel, Dominica, Curacao, and St. John. Actually, Dominica is my favority. The diving is wonderful, and also the island itself is beautiful. I'm sure whatever you decide will be great. I hope you have a great time

Our family has been to Grand Cayman and the diving was excellent but we took a trip to Provo in Turks and Caicos in Nov, 96' and found it very reasonable compared to Cayman. The diving was excellent, vis great, we dove with Dive Provo. The island is rather uneventfull and it's really quiet at night.
Rent a four wheel and drive to the tiki huts on the edge of the island. Really romantic, nobody there.
The only downside- some of the dive sites are 30-40 minutes out. People extremely friendly.
