Flying to St.thomas
What is a resonable price to fly to St.Thomas? We will be traveling in the summer from the Cleveland airport, I have been searching for a flight but they seem outrageously priced. I was just wondering what would be an average or reasonable price. Thanks!!

We fly from Newark to St. Thomas. Generally our airfares in May have been around $350-390.
A agree, wait awhile to book. You might use a farewatcher service like the one Travelocity offers to help you monitor price fluctuations until you're ready to make a purchase.

Funny you mention this; we just bought "outrageously priced" tix from PIT to STT for a family trip in June. My daughter's family got the last tix at ~$650, and my husband and I had to pay ~$750 last week. I was completely floored by these prices but afraid to wait any longer since there were less expensive flights the week before we booked, and we missed out on those. I imagine what others are saying about waiting longer is correct and good advice, but with a villa rented for a certain week, I had visions of not being able to get to STT, etc.
And I thought this was supposed to be "off season."
Please post again and let us know how it's going!

Thanks for all the advice! Still searching for flights they seem to be about 700 up to 1000 per person. We're in the same situation with renting a villa, I'm afraid to wait and take a risk in case there are not any tix left.It seems that if you want a cheaper price you have to make a million stops! The prices seem to change every time I check to. I'll give it another week or so!Thanks again!

Because no passport is needed to puerto rico and us virgin islands, there is a sharp increase in demand particularly to st thomas. prices are going up.
get car rentals early.
I'd check jet blue and spirit airlines flights to st thomas. may have to go cleveand to their hubs...

grandmere: Je pense que vous avez payer trop... (so much for my butchered French). Anyways, I couldn't help checking out the PIT to STT prices for say, the last week (Mon-Mon) flight and the cheapest was $381! Take a look on www.aol.com and then search under their travel section. We pay a pretty penny (@$450-550) to fly from Hartford, CT, but I always buy last minute so I don't expect to score any deals. Charlotte, NC and Philadelphia,PA are big hubs for the Caribbean so I don't know why you had such big prices. What are the exact dates you were looking at?
jarjrjar: What times are you looking at? I love a good travel mystery, and these wildly varying prices are intriguing.

Our villa is rented from Sat-Sat. in June. I usually do all my travel arrangements myself but this time used TA that we use here at work. We were on the phone for over 1.5 hrs., and he was trying many different ways to get all of us there. Nothing was any better than USAirways, unless we wanted to be traveling for 10-12 hrs. I was checking Expedia, Travelocity, etc., myself, too.
However, today on the aol.com site, I do see that Delta and United have better fares for the dates we want, and it appears that we could have gotten less espensive seats. (USAirways is still over $800, though)I just have to move on and not fret over this. Ya live and ya learn.
Thanks for everyone's help. Maybe jarjrjar can benefit from this info.
