My wife and I are considering staying at the Colony Club in February for 4 nights. Neither of us have been to Barbados before but we have heard good things about this property. Any comments/advice/suggestions? If we stay there, would you recommend renting a car? How are the pools there?

Barbados is wonderful; by all means rent a car to see the sights at your pace, and without crowds. Be prepared to drive on the left. The pools at Colony Club are spectacular, in a string. Some of the rooms are poolside, where you can step in directly from your room. Nice property!
The hotel adjacent to the south is Coral Reef Club, probably the classiest hotel on the island. The feature there is the grounds and cottage-style accommodations, but pools are straightforward.

Colony Club is a bit dated and you may prefer staying at Coral Reef Club instead -- top quality there.

We stayed at the Coral Reef Club on October. While the Colony Club had a nice beach, it appeared to be a bit 'tired'. But if you are getting a good rate, then it may be worth it. We used cabs versus renting and found it affordable.
