No difference at all, I don't think. Actually, I sorta liked them (the ground floor suites) better since you can walk right into your room from the beach/outside (as opposed to going up the stairs or using the elevator first).
No side windows that I know of...

We stayed just after the suites had opened and were concerned when we were given a ground floor suite but no-one has a reason to walk past the rooms and we did like that we could access the room from the beach.
We didn't hear any noise from the room above and I don't remember any side windows.
Have you booked? It really is a nice hotel - I hope you have a wonderful time.

Thanks for the news about the noise because that's important to us, too. We stayed at Bucuti in 2002 and loved everything about it except for our room. This was before they had the Tara suites. We had a nice corner room on the ground floor of the main building and loved the location and patio but were disappointed in the room itself with its 2 double beds and harsh lighting and Motel 6 bathroom, even though it was immaculate. I hate saying this, because the Bucuti experience is so wonderful overall, but to me a room is part of the whole vacation experience, and when we come back from dinner, I like to walk into a really pleasant, special, romantic room - it's as important to me as a good beach and good service.
For the past 3 years we stayed at the Aruba Grand. It had the ambiance we like, not so different from Bucuti's even though it's on Palm Beach, and those nice big ground-floor apartments right on the beach. But now it's closed and it's probably going to turn into another obnoxious high rise (I hope not!). Another reason we liked the Aruba Grand was its huge pool, because I'm a serious swimmer. But last year I finally adjusted to swimming in the ocean and now I'm hooked, so I don't mind the Bucuti's small pool anymore.
For this year I was also considering Amsterdam Manor or Costa Linda because we may have some family members join us for a couple days and they have 2-bedroom suites in both places. However, I'm concerned about the Amsterdam Manor because in the pictures their rooms look kind of old and I've heard reports of lumpy mattresses and bad smells on their beach, and I don't think they have a gym, either. Plus they have that road between you and the beach, though it's probably not a big deal. The Amsterdam Manor looks charming but if we weren't happy with the Bucuti rooms, we probably won't be happy at the Amsterdam Manor.
As far as the Costa Linda, we checked it out and weren't crazy about the family atmosphere and crowds, but they do have those great big suites and a good gym. However, there's nothing like the Bucuti atmosphere - it's just right. I guess we could always get a separate room at the Bucuti for our family members if they join us, and if my husband can get a weekly pass to use the gym at Costa Linda, we'll be all set. . . . Did I just talk myself into staying at the Bucuti?
