Best restaurant in/near Old San Juan

Interested in both fine dining and good local food. Any info appreciated. Any thoughts on DragonFly???

If you enjoy all kinds of seafood, it's hard to beat Aguaviva, which is in Old San Juan, right next to Dragonfly (and I believe owned by the same people). I've heard great things about Dragonfly but I've never gone there myself yet.

I like Bombanera in Old San Juan for breakfast, which features both pasty/breakfast fare and more local fare.

Dragonfly is fusion fare which I think is not "local." Try the Parrot Club instead which is near by. They serve a Latin fare and is always busy and festive. To avoid the long wait try sitting at the bar counter - the bartenders there are always nice, and be sure to order a Don Q and coke for me!

I also find street food in the San Juan area extremely tasty. Mostly fried stuff with some kind of meat and I especially like the Baccalauito (?) (with salted fish), and also all sorts of pinchos (grilled meat with skewers).

Drink a six pack of Medella there, the local brew which is much like a classic American beer, clean and easy.

Have fun!

Dragonfly is very good and has a great cool Vibe. Our favorite restaurant in that general area though, for a truly special occasion and special meal, is Pikayo. It's not IN old san juan, but i believe it's about a 10/15 min cab ride. It's in a museum and our not to miss place in PR. To be fair though, it's been about 3 yrs since we've been back.
