Avoiding spring break

Most college breaks happen the 2nd & 3rd weeks of March. That is when you'll see most of the college kids at beaches, especially the Cancun area. Not that many will visit the southern or eastern Caribbean. Some will vist the Bahamas.

High schools typically are scheduled around Easter, but I'm not sure that H.S. breaks would matter so much anyway.

Congratulations!

Nassau and Freeport are the destinations of the "breakers" so if you went to one of the "family islands" you would have the best of all worlds and no big crowds.

Have a wonderful trip and if you need any more info, please let me know.

tweedy
Cancun is a VERY hot spot with both college and high school Spring Breakers because the accomodations and airafares are cheap from most of the US. If you want to go to Cancun, avoid the entire month of March. The Bahamas will also have some Breakers, but not as much. I'd go further south, possibly to a Sandals or other adults-only club, to avoid the revelry.

as a college student and spring breaker, i must say that cancun would not be the place to go for a family trip. When i went last year, i was shocked to see the madness in the city but it was fun. My parents have a timeshare in cancun and i told them not to go during spring break which is in March and beginning of April for some HS. You wont find any relaxation.
