Newark or Philly non-stop; 3 nights; Quiet, beaches, good food, romantic maybe some nightlife (will try going one night). AI or not? Any advice? Thanks in advance

i think usvi, probably st. john, sounds most like what you are seeking for such a short trip, but it is a couple extra hours of travel (by taxi then ferry) past st. thomas which might also suit you. there are only a two resorts on st.john - caneel bay or the westin. lots of info about both and st. john if you type it into the search box at the top of the screen. on st. thomas i would suggest www.secretharbourvi.com with a special dinner at havana blue in the marriott frenchmans/morning star. st thomas is not quiet but secret harbour is. sh is not ai but does offer 3 meals a day in their beachfront (10 yds from ocean) restaurant. and they have a great little bar as well (also outdoors). nice well maintained beach with great snorkeling. very nice staff!!

If ou've got the $, there's no place like Cap Juluca on Anguilla. I would recommend that you fly direct to St. Maarten and take the 30 min water taxi across (it's a lot nicer than switching planes in P.R. and alot more pleasant). A junior suite at Cap Juluca is a dream!

If you're going to be away for just three nights, you should probably limit your search to those destinations you can reach on a non-stop flight. St. John is beautiful but it will require a transfer flight or a ferry ride which will eat up a good chunk of two of your days.

If I were going for just three days, I'd limit my choices to St. Maarten (the French side in particular should satisfy your requirements), Montego Bay, San Juan, Aruba, and St. Thomas. All of these destinations have nice beaches, some nightlife, and excellent restaurants. And you'll be able to enjoy the bulk of the holiday at your resort instead of in the airport or ferry terminal.
