Advice for first time cruiser
With our 20th wedding anniversary coming up in late May, I'd like to find a romantic cruise around that time. Neither my wife nor I have ever cruised, so we don't even know where to start. There's only two things we know for sure:
1. We must have a balcony;
2. We can only cruise for a maximum of 7 days. (travel day before/after ok).
We're ready to splurge--we love good food, wine and conversation; outdoor activities; don't care much for crowds.
Advice anyone?

We are going on the Royal Caribbean Radiance in December for our 20th. We have not cruised before. We are staying in San Juan at the Gallery Inn the 2 nights before. Then at Numero Uno on the beach the 2 nights following. I always do a lot of research for our vacations. We found a good price and a balcony. (it is on deck 7 so they tell me the view straight down to the water is blocked by the overhang of the lifeboats) Good luck in your choices....Sun

What could be more romantic than cruising the French Polynesian Islands of Tahiti and Bora Bora onboard Radisson's top notch ship the Paul Gaugin. No, I'm not in the travel industry. Just a hopeless romantic that loves the lure of the south seas. I hope to do the same itinerary for our 35th. Wedding Anniversary in a couple of years. Congratulations to you and your wife! 20 years is nothing to sneeze at in this day of throw away relationships. May you celebrate many more together!

My very first thought while was reading your questions was Radisson's Paul Gaughin, as well! I haven't experience it personally, but I did manage to talk a friend into it for her honeymoon and she adored the ship, the itinerary, the people.

If, however, you're looking to stay closer to home, why not the Galaxy or Century? What prompts me to say this is that it sounds like a balcony is quite important to you, and those ships have sky suites with incredible ones. Our friends kept referring to ours as "the basketball court." It's THAT big!

Sun
My husband and I took a first time cruise on RCL's Radiance and were awed. The ship was beautiful, the staff were wonderful, and the food..ooh the food. We were on deck 10 with a balcony (balcony is the way to go). You will definately enjoy the ship.
