4 Day Trip in September...but lost as to where to stay!

Never been to the Bahamas before, and I'm treating a very special friend to a quick 4 day trip in early September. She's had a stressful year, and I want us to be able to just relax for a few days, get some sun, enjoy great food, hang out at night, and spend some stress free time with one another. It's sort of a big deal to me that this goes off perfectly - I want her to be wowed.

I'm really clueless as to where to stay though. The first place that comes to mind is Atlantis, but then I am worried that it might be filled with kids, and just be too busy in general. I'd like a nice place, that will treat us both well, and make us want to come back. I'd rather not drop $500 a night to get that though ! Any suggestions of places that people have stayed at and loved? We're flying into Nassau, if that helps, arriving mid week, leaving Sunday.

Thanks in advance!

As far as what we're after, I guess a mix would best describe it. Neither of us have been there before. I'd like to be central to going out at night, but at the same time, both of us would really appreciate seeing the true cultural side of the islands as well. I don't think either one of us are into taking another flight to one of the smaller islands, though a short ferry, etc would be fine. I realize 4 days isn't a ton of time to do it all, but I want to make it as memorable as possible.

TIA guys, much appreciated!

I don't have personal Bahamas experience, and I think many people on this board either stay at Atlantis (which I agree sounds like it may not be for you) or go on to connect to other islands. And it seems like you don't have time for that on a quick trip.

Sandals gets good reviews on trip advisor:

Other hotels are on that link. Good luck!

We recently stayed at Bob Marley House and really enjoyed it's peacefulness and beauty. The personnel was top notch and the rooms roomy and nicely decorated. Their spa is a destination in itself, too.

I also thought of Harbour Island off of Eleuthera. You would take a short flight from Nassau to ELH, North Eleuthera Airport and then a very short ferry boat, 5 min?, to Harbour Island. It has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Pink Sand Beach.

Some of the hotels to check out:

Pink Sands
www.pinksandsresort.com
Runaway Hill
www.runawayhill.com
Coral Sands
www.coralsands.com
Rock House (not on the pink sand beach, though)
www.rockhousebahamas.com

Harbour Island will offer a spectacular beach, nice boutique hotels and no cars as you get around on golf carts which adds to the charm of this island.

Personally we love Atlantis and it is a WOW property. In Sept. the kids will be back in school, so maybe just a few little ones. Also the property is so big that you can always find a quiet and beautiful place to sit away from the kids at the beach or pool.

Since Sept. can be a rainy time, the property has much to offer if you run into one of those periods.

My advise though is upgrade----Coral Towers or better. If in your budget, The Cove is fantastic! Beach towers are kind of old and probably will have whatever kids are on the property.

For only 4 days this is a great place to be, IMO. Easy to get to and plenty to do in a WOW setting.
