I have not stayed at any of these properties but the best location would be either the YWCA ( which is recently renovated) or Robsonssrasse. The other three are all located in roughly the same area on the south western edge of the "downtown" and potentially a bit rougher at night

Not sure where you're coming from, or what your standard is, but let me say that even the worst parts of downtown Vancouver are "safe" by big-city, American standards.
As long as you're safely behind a locked door when sleeping, a street-savvy American MALE need not worry significantly about anything Vancouver can dish out on a routine basis.

Granville Street's not what I'd consider "rough" - it's just full of noisy nightclubs and pubs and the streets are full of people lining up waiting to get into those establishments. And around 2am when the clubs close, you get rowdy drunken college kids on the streets - not dangerous, just rowdy. There's also a bit of a seedy element to parts of Granville (between Drake and Smithe) where there are some old sex toy shops advertizing 25 cent peep shows. And there are tons of really cheap pizza-by-the-slice shops there as well. Not really rough, but not the swankiest part of the city.

I can't say what the price is, but Times Square Suites has been recommended, and I know it's been used as a corporate hotel. I like this location, and you get apartment facilities.
I don't think it's horrible, but I wouldn't be too thrilled with the YWCA location either. I would choose Robsonstrasse if you have to choose from the five hotels you listed in your first post.
What I would do is bid for a 4* hotel on Priceline (not 3*, because you might not like the location and hotel that you get with a 3* bid). You'd no doubt want two separate rooms. Most likely you could get each room for well under $150. Check www.betterbidding.com for more info on Priceline and/or Hotwire.

when I first read this, I thought you might be hoping to spend $150 TOTAL and not $150 per night.
If spending $150 per night, Priceline is the way to go!!
The 4-star spots would be awesome and as somebody said, you can go to www.biddingfortravel.com and get a sense for what people are paying for which hotels in Vancouver that way.

We've stayed at Bosmans on our last two visits to Vancouver. The room was a reasonable size, clean and with all the expected facilities. The outside of the hotel looks a bit rundown but the rooms were fine. There is a car park at the back of the hotel. It is a short walking distance to Robson Street and not that much further to the ferry across to Granville Island.
