Romantic Dinner in Vancouver

We'll be spending the four days of our honeymoon in Vancouver.

Can anyone recommend a *nice* restaurant at which to have a romantic dinner? Somewhere where we could dress up, maybe make reservations -- you know, candlelight, soft music, the whole deal. Not over the top expensive, but maybe <$150 for the whole meal -- including modest drinking.

We'll be staying at the Sylvia Hotel and will have a car.

Any other suggestions as far as MUST SEE's would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd probably go to Le Crocodile, just because I love it so much (wonderful French cuisine and superb service), and have had several romantic dinners there. But while I think it's romantic, the atmosphere doesn't scream romance. It's also a very good value, I think: not inexpensive, but the prices are very fair for the quality of the food.

I also really liked C on my last visit to Vancouver. I was by myself, but I definitely thought it would be a good place to come back with a date. It's on the water, overlooking Granville Island. Beautifully prepared "modern" seafood. Again, I'm not sure it screams romance, but I liked the atmosphere.

I have also heard that Villa del Lupo is a great place for a romantic dinner, but haven't eaten there. It does get "four kisses" (the top rating) in "NW Best Places to Kiss" (as does Le Crocodile, by the way). Another one they rate highly is Bacchus, at the Wedgewood Hotel, and I would agree.

My favourite restaurant is the Cafe de Paris on Denman, just off Robson. It is on the casual side but the menu and the wine celler are excellant.
A little more formal is La Gravouche on Alberni Street. It is in an old house. Again, the menu and wine are wonderful and both are very romantic and within a few blocks of each other.
Bon apetite
Mandy

I would opt for Baccus at the Wedgewood Hotel-also a great bar or the Villa de Lupe. Next to the Sylvia Hotel is the RainCity Grill-not terribly romantic but good food and a great wine list- This is a wonderful place to have lunch-outside on a sunny day, a bottle of B.C. wine ( you might try Blue Mountain--though I think it a bit overpriced)--a walk along the bay and back to the hotel. Another good restaurant is Cin Cin's on Robson--a high energy-Tuscan restaurant-- not the romantic choice but the one most likely to see the movie people.

I always Liked Gianni's..on granville, North of 12th ave. when I lived in Vancouver. If you like East indian there is no better, or quaint, than VJ's. I believe it is on 11th/ at Granville.
Anderson's is also nice..overlooking false creek.

If you would like to have some fun for breakfast you really should try "the elbo room"..The place has all gay staff, and owner, and there mandate is to basically abuse people verbally. Sounds harsh but the food is great and you will likely be laughing too much too eat. Very harmless fun.

e-mail me if you would liek any more Vancouver details..Enjoy vancouver!!

I just returned from a conference in Vancouver, a few weeks ago. I discovered this great seafood restaurant called Joe Forte's, by way of the terrific concierge at The Pan Pacific Hotel. There's nightly piano entertainment, and a rooftop patio. It's quite busy, and casually elegant. After 9:00 p.m., the lights are dimmed. If you're looking for some good salmon, head to Joe Forte's. Guaranteed to please.
