reservations and whale watching?

Hi - we're headed up to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton the last week of June. If we want to catch a whale watching excursion from Cheticamp or thereabouts, are reservations necessary at that time of year? If so, how far in advance do I need to call?

One more question -- are there any websites that might tell me what sort of live music might be going on in Cape Breton on 6/29 and 6/30?

Thanks!

Jodi

There is a small interpretation centre in Pleasant Bay with three operators. No reservations required. Not 100% about Cheticamp but you won't have a problem with getting on a tour. Not sure if June is a great month to see whales. Usually once the water turns warmer - August/September being good. Check out these websites

www.fiddlinwhaletours.com
www.whaleandsealcruise.com

Hope this helps. These professionals should be able to tell you what you might see that time of the year.

Normaway Inn has music most evenings in the lodge after dinner (@8pm) One night a week they have a barn dance, which friends attended and said was wonderful.

Port Hawkesbury has live music at the Creamery. Check out www.ceilidh.ca for who is playing (Tues, Wed, Thurs nights)
or check out exploreNS.com to find out what a ceilidh is and where to find one!
