NOTL Wine Tours?

Any recommendations for a wine tour to Niagra on the Lake from Niagra Falls? I have found MANY different tours that leave from hotels in Niagra Falls and go to various wineries in NOTL. Most run about $65 and up per person.

Has anyone taken one?

Thank you!

the best tours are the bicycle tours that leave from the village and ride the backroads through the vineyards... that includes 4 or 5 wineries and a lunch in the grapes... If you are not up to the ride, the quality of the tour may be judged on which wineries the busses stop at... if you wish, just post the list of wineries on the tours you have found and we can guide you to the best tour... the experience will be much more fun if you go to the prettiest and best wineries, not by the price of the tour...

Thanks. This is actually for my parents and 4 of their friends. They are going in October, so no to the bikes because 1. weather could be bad, and 2. they'd have no designated driver to get them back to their hotel in Niagra Falls. Which is the whole point of it all. I know last year they drove themselves to various wineries, but there were only 4 of them, and this year they won't all fit in one car.

I was looking to see if anyone had actually used one of the tour companies. The Renaissance (where they are staying), recommends this Grape and Wine Tour. www.grapeandwinetours.com

It doesn't list which wineries though, but these are the two options they were thinking of. I guess she'd have to call to see WHICH wineries. But again, I wanted to see if anyone on Fodors had actually gone on one.

Hi amelie~
After reading their description of the Gourmet Picnic Experience, I can tell you any of the tours would probably be very good.
That tour with Jordan Village, Cave Spring wineries, Flat Rock others in the Twenty Valley area mentioned is a wonderful combination of dining and tours from what I have experienced there, short of doing your own personal one. You could probably email them for specifics if that makes a difference.

The other company often recommended that I think does pick ups in Niagara Falls is Crush.

http://www.crushtours.com

Have a look and see if that might suit them since that company may be open to a personalized tour.

Good luck!

For about $25US you can purchase an audio CD driving tour to play in the car. It's not just a wine tour, but it has 2 wineries on it. It covers Niagara Falls to NOTL. There are about 20 sites, but you can pick only the ones you want to stop at. It's better than a bus tour since you can do it whenever you want and it's a lot cheaper. www.cargoaudiotours.com
