need advice

We will have 5 days to spend in NS in late June. We're flying into Halifax and renting a car. Should we concentrate on CBI or perhaps drive around the southern coast following the Lighthouse and Evangeline Trails? Which would be more scenic? Any other ideas? Thanks!

I think the Cabot Trail is one of the more scenic drives in N. America, and shouldn't be missed. You can do part of the Lighthouse route as a daytrip from Halifax, to Peggy Cove, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, etc.

Dear Debcon, I would say to concentrate on Cape Breton Island for the Cabot Trail, Louisbourg, Baddeck, The Miners Museum & some of the best music and land scapes found anywhere in the world. Believe me when i say its well worth the trip. On the way back to you can do the lighthouse trail to halifax and thats a real nice drive also its mostly coastline. you would pick up the light house trail around antigonish and go from there. hope this helps.

We just got back from Nova Scotia last weekend. 5 days, I'd concentrate on Cape Brenton Island. We stayed at the Castlerock Inn, wonderful. Don't miss Peggy's Cove they have a wonderful B&B there too.

Hi lafrancec--what was the name of the B&B in Peggy's Cove? We will be heading that way in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

Thanks for your advice. We will spend our first night in Halifax and the next 3 on CBI. We're thinking of one night in Baddeck. Would you suggest Auberge Gisele's Inn, Ceilidh Country Lodge or the Lynwood Inn? Another night in Ingonish - Keltic Lodge or Castle Rock? any other suggestions? Where would you spend the 3rd night? Thanks again.

Lantern Hill and Hollow is a great place to stay in Ingonish. Your own cottage with kitchen right on the beach!

We had planned to stay two nights in Halifax but found that one afternoon and night was plenty.

Stop in Mahone Bay. Quaint small town with Mimi's Grill to eat at and some shops and stay at The Manse.

We stayed at Baywind Inn and Suites in Cheticamp. Very relaxing and quiet.

We hiked the Middlehead Trail and Skyline Trail.

We started in Yarmouth and drove counterclosewise around the entire Province of Nova Scotia.

We stopped in Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Baddeck, Cheticamp, Wolfville, Digby and East Kemptville before returning back to Yarmouth.

Thanks for all your advice. Unfortunately, we left on the 26th so I didn't read your hotel suggestions. We stayed at the Ceilidh CountryLodge in Baddeck - nice and clean, were able to use the facilities at the Inverary Resort right across the street, including a free boat ride on the beautiful Bras d'Or, and all for $79! They said it was a special. In Ingonish, we stayed at the Keltic. I was not impressed with the room-soft mattress, not a great view,no AC in the main lodge-$159, front desk staff not very friendly. The location was beautiful, but next time I'll try the Castle Rock and just drive over there to hike Middle Head Trail and visit Betty the bartender! We were overwhelmed with CBI-even made it up to Meat Cove-hope to return in Oct. for the Celtic music festival.
