Lodges in the Rockies

I was reading the post about Lake O'Hara Lodge, and it got me to thinking. Friends of ours stayed at Moraine Lake Lodge and thought it was spectacular. What other really nice lodges are there in the same general vicinity -- beautiful hotels on gorgeous lakes/land where you can see and get the feel for the Rockies while staying there? Preferably not of the "break the bank" variety (under $500 a night??)! (FWIW, we've been to Banff and stayed in a hotel in town, and have visited both of the Fairmonts - Banff and Lake Louise - I'm thinking more of the out-of-the-way lodge like Lake O'Hara and Moraine Lake).

My favorite is Emerald Lake Lodge, it's surrounded by nothing by natural beauty, no cars are allowed on the property where the lodges are. It is situated outside Field BC, about 30 minutes west of Lake Louise. Here is the link for you.

Are you looking for a frontcountry or backcountry (wilderness) lodge? Moraine Lake Lodge and Emerald Lake Lodge are the former, along with the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge; Lake O'Hara Lodge, the latter (and above your price range), although Lake O'H differs from most in that you can take a bus in. Shadow Lake Lodge, Shovel Pass Lodge, Tonquin Valley Adventures, and Skoki Lodge are all backcountry lodges. Mount Engadine Lodge, Pyramid Lake Bungalows are a couple of frontcountry (car accessible) ones.

I can second Emerald Lake Lodge. The "cabins" have private porches with rocking chairs and you can sit and look through the trees at the lake. Plus, across the highway in Field is a great place to eat (or was about 3 years ago when we were there) Truffle Pig Cafe.
