Budget B&B's in Vancouver
My husband and I are going to Vancouver for 8 days in mid-September. I like to stay in B&B's or those kinds of places. We don't want luxury lodging, as we will be doing a lot of sightseeing and will be in our lodging for sleeping, bathing, etc. only.
I found an "urban loft" for rent (a kind of self serve B&B) and I've found TONS of B&B's that look OK (some have GREAT weekly rates). Also found a hotel-style B&B called Penny's place (I think...). Anybody been there? It's just so hard to tell!!!
We'd really like a "budget" type of lodging (around $75USD/night, give or take)- as long as it's clean and safe, I'll try it. We want to spend our $$$ on food and sights. Any thoughts, suggestions, etc?

Surprisingly, I have found some B&B's that are well within our budget and most of the B&B's are cheaper than the hotels- I just wondered if anybody had any ideas on them. The Penny's Place looks OK. The Urban Loft looks nice and it rents for only about $650 a week.

You can check the ratings and comments for accomodations on tripadvisor....under B&B's. Even at a glance there are many more B&B's than this one that you might find suitable.
This is the one review on that site for Penny's Place:

Would I stay at this location again: no way!
we stayed in pennys place for 5 nights... Our opinion was mixed...It was slightly outside the main area of Vancouver (nightlife etc) on Commercial Drive. The skytrain to the city was about a 15minute walk, the bus went just outside (but wasnot the safest at times) and taxis are n't too expensive. The apartment itself was covered in antiques which (we are 23-26) did not suit us. It was clean but we had to request new towels because they didnt change them. Penny was not the most accommodating at the end although was fine when there was money being handover at the beginning! in conclusion I would stay in a more central location next time.>>>>
You could also have a look at an older budget hotel on English Bay....The Sylvia Hotel has a great location as well as kitchens in some suites.

Hope you find something to your liking.

I would also suggest Sylvia's Hotel. September is probably low season there, but in any case the rates are very reasonable, especially if you stay in the older part of the hotel. It's in a fantastic location and it's very clean and pleasant, although not fancy. The only thing to avoid, as far as I'm concerned, is the dining-room where we had breakfast once and only once! The coffee was awful, and that was the best thing about breakfast. However, there are tons of small coffee-shops in the area where you can grab breakfast or whatever else you want.
