Air Canada Website - best time of day/week to book flight online?
I'm trying to book a few one-way "multi-city" flights on the Air Canada website yesterday (Tor-Edm-Van), and noted that there was a price increase from when I searched at 8:30pm vs 12:30am. I'm trying to book for travel in late March and early April '05, so availability shouldn't be an issue. I seem to recall that their prices are somewhat cyclical, such that it seems to drop back to the lower prices on wednesdays. Can anyone else confirm this, or know exactly when their system has the lowest prices? I've also read that some systems have the highest prices at the end of the day (when most people are surfing at home), and the cheapest at 5pm, but I tried this morning and didn't find it applicable to the AC website. TIA.

Hi RoyalJelly,
I don't know the answer to your question.
I also don't know if you specifically want to fly Air Canada. WestJet may be a cheaper option.
You can compare fares on the ITA Software website at
http://www.itasoftware.com/
A hypothetical enquiry that I just did there came up with a better fare for WestJet than for Air Canada.
I think the prices that are quoted on the ITA Software site are in US dollars, though.
Hope that helps.

Agree with WillTravel about the seat sale.
I buy on line all the time and have found no cycle with the prices. I will sometimes do a check several times in a day and have seen a price drop within that day and so have benefitted. I have also been burnt a couple of times where the price has dropped after I've bought.
It's all based on the number of seats sold and there isn't really a way to tell. Compare with WestJet as Judy recommended - sometimes you win.

Consider using a travel agent. While the AC website was quoting me $2100, the TA found a seat for less than $1000 on the same flight. The TA had access to seats that AC had sold to a consolidator for the flight. The small TA fee was more than covered by the savings.
