Melbourne Tips
Found this great site with tips about Melbourne from a local musician. Sightseeing, Shopping, Restaurants. Tried three of restaurants and they were spot on. Guess he know what he's talking about as he is a local. www.mymelbourne.net.au Sent him a mail and got a nice response too.

Florentino is a Melbourne institution no matter whether you eat in the Bistrot or Restaurant . The upstairs Mural room has a National Trust preservation classification .It has always been a tradition to eat their fish and chips followed by a chocolate souffle .
As for the $30 lunches lots of Melbourne restaurants that would otherwise cost you 3 times that amount ordering from the a la carte menu offer it .When it first started about 10 years ago it was $19.95 .

Hi Puttaka,
Not too much difference these days between usd and aud, so there won't be loads of choice at that price.
One place you might be interested in, especially if you like somewhere with a bit of character is:
http://www.richmondhillhotel.com.au/3.html
I stayed there once three years ago and was pleased with my choice. Or there's Melbourne Metro YHA - an excellent place which comes in a little cheaper at $90 a night for a double/twin with ensuite (or $100 if you are not a YHA member).
Cheers.

rvowinner , as a Sydneysider what do you like about Melbourne ?
I have never understood the rivalry save in the context of Federation and Melbourne being the seat of National power until Canberra was constructed .
