Travel Insurance?

Can anyone recommend a decent travel insurance provider? Am looking for medical evacuation coverage, lost/stolen luggage, and possibly trip cancellation/interruption.

Have searched the web but haven't found too much that looks good and affordable. Called Travelguard but it was over $500 to cover my 3.5 month trip.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
Tom

Try "Travelux" (I think that's the right spelling) ... they do retail travel insurance.

I had the travel insurance thought I was safe and then had a camera stolen going thru customs in Kathmandu.. they never heard of a police report and the insurance co. won't cover the cost of the camera ... dealing with a 4th world country.. other than that the trip to nepal was the best ever

We've purchased insurance for our upcoming trip with Travel Guard (www.travelguard.com, 1-800-549-9037).
Although we have no personal claim experience with them, they were recommended by my travel agent, and she says that others that have filed claims with them have been very satisfied.

I would try International SOS (www.internationalsos.com). I have seen them written up in travel books as good emergency service, also my company uses them for people traveling overseas.

Try www.1travel.com Their prices are cheaper because they sell directly to you. Also, their prices are in part based on age, which could be good or bad. Fortunately, we did not need to use their services.

Pacific Delight has the lowest cost insurance (and best value) in the market - $69 for single destinaitons and $95 for multiple ... but only covers the tour products that you buy from them. The coverage includes everything that you are looking for ... trip interrpution, covers pre-existing conditions, flight delays ($100 per day), $25,000 for medical expenses and emregency evacuation. The coverage is explained in detail at www.pacificdelighttours.com on the "Insurance" button on the left sidebar.

Take a look at Unicard.com We are using them for a large trip to China. We thought their rates much better than what is offered through tour operators and the coverage seems excellent. Be sure to compare "apples to apples" on pricing insurance. There are many limitations of coverage that differ between companies. Also, know how much it will actually cost for something like "emergency medical evacuation". We found that the $25,000 coverage on one policy was only half the actual cost of being evacuated from China. (found this info on the State Department web site) The only thing worse than no coverage is thinking that "everything" is covered when its not. Good luck.
