Tour Companies

My husband and I are planning a trip to China for this summer and want to go with a guided tour company. Has anyone used Pacific Delight or China Discovery Tours??? Any other suggestions?? Thanks

I've been on several independent China tours with Pacific Delight and was quite pleased with them. They have been in business a long time and know the region well. Very professional and well organized operation.

Highly recommend China Plus. An excellent small company run by Chris and Ping Lee.

ylieberthal-did you meet Charlie (zang shuo) in Beijing? He was our English-speaking Tour guide in Beijing. He was very kind, very informative.

I felt like part of the ambiance of the tour was that Beijing was so different, but the lecture about the places we visited were on the bus, so when we were at the actual places, we found ourselves walking around with really no explanation. Good Tour Company, although there is probably a better one out there. (but no one better than Charlie

We just returned from a 23 day tour of China and Hong Kong with Vantage Deluxe Travel and could not have been more pleased. We had one primary director with a different local one in each separate location. The knowledge, pleasantness and professionalism of the various guides made for a very enjoyable trip for each of us.

Sorry this reply is so long in coming. I've primarily been on the Thailand board. Our National guide was Jason. a lovely young man whose father was in the military. Our trip eas incredible, from lunch with a family in Shanghai to a trip to the eastern/western hospital ouside of Bejing. We saw urban schools as wellas farm villages where very few Anglos had gone before. It was wonderful

My husband and I went to China, Hong Kong and Japan this summer. We went with Pacific Delights. We were very pleased with the selection of hotels. The food was good. Our tour director was excellent in China. However, when we got to Hong Kong and Japan, we were left on our own. In Beijing, the local guide promoted his own optional activities and skipped seeing the jewelry room at the Forbidden City and the Exhibition Hall at the Ming tomb. In Hong Kong, our group was split into two hotels. The local guide didn't take us to the airport, as promised. In Japan, we had no contact with anybody from Pacific Delights. We were handed an envelope upon arrival at our hotel with breakfast tickets, return tickets to the airport on a commercial bus and tickets for sightseeing tours from the downtown bus terminal. The Mount Fuji tour did not include transportation back to our hotel. Customer service in New York was not the least bit interested or cooperative upon hearing our complaints. We would recommend the tour in China, but would not recommend it in Hong Kong or Tokyo.
